Soldier SE/Rbk 6K/Bauer RX25

Recommended Posts

Hey so I'm a college hockey player and I'm about 5'8, 140 and am looking for a new, good skate. One that is gonna be durable, have good performance and not be too heavy. So out of the 3, Mission Soldier SE, Rbk 6K, or the Bauer RX25, which should I go for? Or, should I look at a more upscale skate in these brands (But like i said i am a college student and so don't have a ton a money to spend on new skates)?

Yea I mean I already tried on the new Missions and Bauer's and they both fit well, so I mean which should I go for?

And you play for Slippery Rock? I play for the University of Miami.

I played for the ECRHA team when we first started it 2 years ago but did not agree with the direction the team was headed with decisions on coaches and systems to run. so I just start playing for the club in the Western Pa College league. We have 5 teams including the ECRHA team so I play on one of the tier 2 teams now and love it.

As for the skates I guess its a toss-up for you being that from what I see they are almost identical when it comes to components. All of my friends who have had the past soldier skates love them.

just looked again at the componets of the two and it looks at least in my opinion that the bauer has a better built boot, they both use the same chassis and bearings and the mission uses better wheels( at least for me)

I haven't seen the skates in person so that is for you to decide. As for the wheels, a lot of people like lebeda grippers ,I just have had better experiences with the rinkrats, especially the 76a because I'm a bigger guy and I'm hard on my wheels anyway.

MIAPlayer, have they released where Nationals are? The B team and I want to plan a trip to watch the "festivities". And I got a pair of Tour Carbon Pro's before the season started. I love em.

Flyerguy, not that I know of. If they have, they haven't posted it on the ncrha site. Although while looking at the forums someone said they heard the 3 possible places were Corona, CA, Feasterville, PA or Atlanta, GA.

In my opinion, I would avoid bauer/mission, only because I don't like them/what they are doing to hockey (can someone say monopoly??) try a RH brand like TOUR or REVISION. both great skates, I have a pair of revisions ATM (among HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAPS of other pairs) and love them, even the frame.

the bauer?mission aer well built, don't get me wrong, but I just think support the sport....

Depending on what size you are, I may have a few boots/frame combos you might like to try (depending on price range of course...)

Na, I don't want tour for i don't want the hummer frame and I'm a bit hesitant to try out the revisions (plus they're out of my price range). Other than that, CCM and RBK are out for I don't like the tri-di frame and so I'm gonna try out the Mission Soldier SEs. Everyone I've talked to that has them has loved them and I used to love my Missions back in the day so I'm gonna try them out again. Also, I couldn't care less about Bauer buying out Mission. Business is business and it has actually improved Bauer skates cause now they can use the vanguard chassis instead of the stupid rocker they had

have you tried the hummer????

I have tried just about every fram on the market, and can say that it is definately up there for me. I have vanguard frames here, but i find that they aren't quite there for me (my opinion) I love sprung frames, and am being turned to the Revision frame also

You're supporting the sport by buying Mission-Bauer stuff. Mission's been at it 15 yrs for inline, and Bauer left the inline guys to essentially do their thing in the acquisition. Tour and Revision are also good to support, there are good inline focused people at each of these companies.

I've never tried the hummer frame and at this point, I'm not gonna shell out money to buy a Tour skate and possibly not like the frame when I'd rather go with a pair of Missions where I know I will like the vanguard.

And yea, the fact that Bauer is keeping Mission alive and coming out with new Mission skates is supporting the sport. In addition, it makes Bauer skates that much better now that they have the vanguard chassis.

I just wonder for how long though.....

Bauer had the biggest opportunity to get rid of the Mission guys in the acquisition, keeping guys like Sean Riley and Dave Reskey was actually a very good sign that the new Bauer is committed to keeping that segment of their business going strong. There's no shareholders to report to, and Mission has been #1 in inline for a long time now. Why mess with success when there's no board forcing the business to squeeze every penny out each quarter?

I know what you're saying, but the foundation for keeping the business running as is was maintained. Just like the people at Tour and Revision, Mission still has a good core group in the inline business focused on those of us with wheels on.

MIAplayer: enjoy the new Soldier SEs. Just know that you're getting a deeper and wider boot than older Missions. Not a bad thing in my book, but a different feel to them
