whats the differance..(U+ Pro & U+07)

Recommended Posts

Is it really that big of a difference? Cuz i plan on getting the higher end U+ skates but i'm just not sure i wanna spend U+ Pro money. If there isnt a big difference between the 09/07's then a may just go with them instead.

I went to buy some u+ (2008, they were cheap cheap) and also tried an 09. 09 was heavier and fit perfect without even heating...like literally perfect...

So that being said, I skipped the 2008 u+ just bought u+pros yesterday and have not skated in them. But they needed to get baked(obviously) to get the right fit. If I wasnt in the market to spend big $ I would have opted on the 09 as it seemed like a nice value

I'd recommend finding somewhere with a F.I.T. machine... Makes a huge difference on the U+Pro's

Perfect Edge in Howell, MI has one

If you get U+ Pros make sure to get the U+ Pro Reloaded model. There is a reason the first & second generation U+'s are so inexpensive; they had major issues with the quarter panel durability. If you have the model with the mesh on the side make sure to dry them out completely after every use. We found that if they didn't dry the mesh would bubble.

There is quite a difference between the U+07 and Pro Reloaded models but you can also look into the U+09 if you aren'twanting to spend the money on the top of the line skate.

Quater Package:

Pro Reloaded: "Vector Armour" with surlyn

U+09: Metal mesh (addressed issues with the 2008 Pro mesh quarters)

U+07: Vectorwear I

Liner:

Pro Reloaded: Ultima Dry w/anti-microbial

U+09: Ultima Dry

U+07: Clarino

Outsole:

Pro Reloaded: Carbon composite

U+09: composite

U+07: Vector full graphic (made to only look high end)

Footbed:

Pro Reloaded: Vector Dry

U+09: Vector Dry

U+07: F.I.T system

The major difference between the models is the quarter package. In the U+09 and U+07 models they also include a heel and ankle counter in the construction to give them their shape. The quarter package on the Pro Reloaded model molds stiff enough to not require them and their omission saves some weight in the final product as well improve moldability in the heel and ankle area.

If you've ever noticed after baking a pair of skates you get a really nice fit initially but is gone in a month or so it is likely due to these parts trying to return to their origional shape. These skates have a pretty high volume so if you aren't getting a relatively snug fit in the back of the skate out of the box then I wouldn't recommend spending a few hundred dollars on them hoping a baking or two will cure that. I'm sure you wouldn't be asking if you didn't already know your foot goes well with a CCM fit so this probably won't be a problem for you. The rest of the skate does mold incredibly well though.
