Oakley half shield spider web effect solution!

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i just wanted to let anyone know who owns an oakley half shield that i have found a solution to the spiderweb effect that happens to the anti scratch coating on the outside. it seems rediculous but if you use vinegar on a wash cloth and rub the half shield the coating will begin to come off. it will look like glitter on your wash cloth. you need to apply some pressure though otherwise it wont come off. it took me about 5 mins to remove it all. i recommend starting at one side and slowly buffing towards the other side. ive been playing with my visor for the past 2 months without the anti scratch coating and its been great so far. no problems at all. no distortion. so for 3 bucks you can fix your half shield instead of dropping 60 bucks for a new one :)

Neat idea. I've had the spider web effect for a while now. Just got used to it on my visor. But as soon as it takes another scratch off the coating I'll give the vinegar a shot and remove it all. Thanks!

Wish I had some before pics to put up. I have the tinted oakley so it would have shown up great on camera. Wish I thought of taking pics during the process. and no it does not take the tint off. So someone else is going to have to take some before, during and after pics. Sorry man.
