Vaughn 35+2 compared to Reebok pads

Recommended Posts

i have vaughn 3's for 3 yrs now in 35+2 and my 5hole is lacking huge coverage so i was thinking this yr ill upgrade to new gear..reeboks are very eye catching and i saw some nice chep sets on goaliestore but they were 36+2 my atk which sits perfect in the vaughns makes me iffy to make the move to a reebok pad or it doesnt matter ? feedaback much appreciated

In theory, they both start out exactly the same in terms of external measurement (ie. along the face of the pad). The issue is that a stock shred-packed Velocity pad will settle over time; generally, over a couple of years of thorough use, it'll effectively shrink about .5" to 1" from the knee up, and another 1"-2" from the knee down - especially in the ankle.

However, because Vaughn and RBK use different leg-channels, they fit a little differently in similarly marked sizes. Most guys usually drop an inch in standard sizing when moving from Velocities to Premiers/Revokes (eg. 35" Vaughn to 34" RBK).

Given that your knee "sits perfectly" in a pair of shrunken 35+2 Velocities, my guess would be that you're looking for a rather less common set of 34+3 Reeboks, in order to get a similar fit but more thigh-rise coverage in the five-hole. 36+2 would likely be huge on you.

I guess Reeboks tend to be bigger than Vaughns just because Vaughns will strink. And i know this doesn't really help but are you interested in selling them after you get your new pads? Lemme know!
