Mega Air 90's feel.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Loooooong time reader. I'm looking at getting back into hockey and need a pair of skates. I have kind of high arches and the only skates that have ever fit me where the Micron Mega Air 90's, Nike Airs, and the Mission High fly's ( I have a pair brand new but they are a little too wide.)

So the question is, what current skate has a similar feel? Or perhaps an easier question is what skates are good for high arches?

Thanks a million everyone.

My buddy used to skate the mega's and just got back into things again. He went with the nike bauer supreme one75's and loves em!

Loved my 10-90s and now have One 55s. They are similar but not as good IMHO. I would like to know what is closer too.

There is a pretty big difference in the stiffness and weight of the 75' vs. 55's. I have the 95's and love them!

Sorry I didn't mean that in a smart ass kinda way, if it came off like that. The tough part is, the skates are 250.00 new on a couple online sites right now.

I unfortunately have no choice and have to go with the stiffest I can at 6'7 300lbs.

No, I didn't take it like that. You made a good point.

I see on Ice hockey warehouse youtube page that the Bauer 4.0 and 3.0 have the same feel as the old nikes. Is there that much of a difference between the 3 and 4.0 in terms of stiffness and protection?

Thanks again.

I did not get the chance to try on the 3.0 but did try on the 4.0. They seemed stiff but soft stiff...they had the support but felt like slippers, real roomy and no pressure points. They seemed to be higher volume than the 95's. They were nice but something didn't feel right for me. They offer 4.0 pro too which i believe would be even more stiff.

And now you can get a pair of one95's for around 400.00 and the one75's for 250.00

I wouldn't go with the Flexlite skates unless you were a pure recreational, once a week player. True, they do fit like the old Quest skates and if you have a super wide foot, they're perfect...but they're not anywhere performance oriented as the Supreme or Vapor skates.

The last skates to fit similar to the 10-90 were the Bauer Supreme 8090, if you can find a pair of those skates, they'll be money. If you can't, the Vapor line tends to fit similar to the older Bauer skates, the newer Supremes fit a bit more deeper in volume, less material overall around the foot (especially the ankles, you can see the shape of the foot mimiced by the boot) and stiffer in general than the Vapor.

With the new Supreme line coming out, you'll definately find this seasons ONE** on a good deal.
