Bauer Flexlite 4.0 - stiffness

Recommended Posts

Tried on a pair of Bauer Flexlite 4.0 (non-pro edition) yesterday, and they seem to fit my caveman feet perfectly in a 7EE. Only thing I noticed is that the outer coating is made from some type of foam and it doesn't seem too protective or durable, as if it wouldn't hold its shape for long. Does anyone have any experience with these non-pro version of the Flexlite 4.0's? I would get the pro version, but neither Hockeygiant or Hockeymonkey have a pair.

Thanks!

Same thing I thought when I looked at them. They fit well, but wasnt sold on how durable they'd be.

In the end, you might want to consider a full custom Vapor. The skate is nicer and going to a full custom only costs $75 more than msrp (which is more than the Flexalite I realize) but then you can get something that fits you exactly and you can even option them out more with other features too.

Its the way I went and if you can live with the month or so wait, well worth it.

Go to you local Bauer dealer and talk to them. There are all kinds of options when you custom order. They will measure your foot from front to back, instep depth, ankle and heel width. They will trace your foot as well. Then you have options such as extra stiff boots, double stitching, reinforced eyelets, stiffer tendon guards, double thick tongues, different linings and other things as well. Your shop can go through all the options with you.

Its a great option for not a lot more money. I will always go custom from here on out as long as Bauer doesnt hike the price. LOL

Great advice, but many of us can't go to a local dealer, since we live in areas that don't have dealers or even decent hockey shops anywhere near. Anyone have thoughts on the original question about Flexlite protection? I have been interested in those also, due to my horribly square feet.

Weaver. The measurements are pretty basic. IF you're interested in a custom skate, talk to Bauer or call a Bauer dealer. I'm sure you can arrange to have a local podiatrist take the measurements needed and send them to Bauer or a dealer and have the skates produced.

Just suggesting if its something you're interested in, there are probably ways to get it done.

Sorry I cant comment on the Flexalite. I tried them on and have a very square foot. They fit the best of any skate on the market for me out of the box, but they were not very stiff, they felt like an old school leather boot well broken in and I just questioned their durability and how they would hold up. That and I wanted something stiffer, so pursued the custom route. I would have preferred to get a Supreme skate custom but since they are in the process of the new version of that, it was Vapor or wait till summer to get a pair and I couldnt wait.
