New Skates

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

I'm new here and excited to have finally combine the Internet and hockey. This.board seems like a wealth of good info and i have a few questions about my new skates.

I just made a switch from my Bauer Supremes to a Graf 735.

Back when I was a kid, I used to skate CCM before my Bauers and from what I remember - the CCM had a bit of a forward pitch. When I switched to Bauer - all of a sudden my skating was slower; so I'm excited to be back on some forward leaning skates.

What I am wondering is whether the forward pitch of my Graf skates is in the boot or the chassis (both)? I still have my Tuuks and I hear about a lot of guys switching them in place of the cobras - why?

Also - how long are these 735s going to take to break in? I skate shinny about 3-4 a week a few hours each time and my heels a in a world of pain right now.

sorry i cant help but im thinking of trying grafs aswell. want that forward pitch. how do you feel skating on them? awkward? good?

The grafs have the foward pitch in the holder.. what most do who like the tuk holder can get heel lifts. or you can just stick with the cobras.

apart from how stiff they are they feel great in corners and effortless in acceleration. I'm really happy with my purchase.

It seems like a lot of skaters modify their skates with different blades and holders and such. What is the default blade in the Cobra? At 5'8" (off skates) 145lbs I'm wondering if there are mods that I should look into once these g

boots are broken in.

Your Grafs should break in nicely, mine took a bit to break in but when they did, they were the most comfortable skate I've ever put on. But like legiahockey, I wear U+ now...and they are like casts.

Grafs, RBK and CCM have a forward bias pitch, Bauer and Easton tend to be more flatter, my roommate puts heel lifts in his Supreme, Vapor and S19.
