New skates for newish skater

Recommended Posts

I'm 22 and weigh 110kg. (242.5 pounds)

I am really only using these recreationaly once or twice a week.

I've been to a local shop and my sizing seems to be a 8.5 EE.

Ive been looking at the Bauer Vapor X:60 and have just notice the newer Supreme range coming out. (mainly the one100)

Would these be too still or over the top, or would my weight be good for these higher end skates.

Is the fit in the one95 the same as the one100?

Rian

Saying what skate to get is tough, everyone's foot is different.

Even though I've got a wide foot (E) the 10.5 E Bauer X50's did not fit me right. I tried on Easton, Mission and RBK. Out of all of the skates, the RBK's fit me best. The other skates all had something that made my foot uncomfortable the moment I laced them up.

You're not a lightweight so I'd personally go with a stiffer boot like the X60. Higher end skates generally offer the stiffer boots. Right now is definitely a good time to buy skates if you can find your size, lots of end of the year deals going on so you can prob get a nice high end pair relatively cheap.

My only other suggestion is to try on lots of skates. Don't just tunnel vision one brand of skates. For all you know your foot fit into a CCM skate better than a Bauer.

I share the same problem.

A lot of the stores in my area have closed down...I've got a Play It Again Sports (who has a limited supply) and three rinks, each within 30 minutes driving. Not much to choose from. I got lucky at one of the rinks and they had most of my sizes in every brand except for CCM (though CCM and RBK fit the same I've been told).

Either way, good luck. Hope you find something nice :)
