Bauer Skate Question.....

Recommended Posts

Hi all...

Do the Vapor XXV's fit the same as the Bauer Vapor X:50 X:40 X:30's? I just baught a pair of Vapor XXV's and they are too big..My left foot is slightly bigger than my right one and when i touch my toes to the toe cap i have about an half inch of room between my heel and the back of the skate..The XXV's i baught are size 9.5ee, Just wondering if i should go down a half or whole size....I think that "ee" might be alittle wide too. I baught the XXV's in that size cause i had a pair of Custom Supreme 3000's that were an 8.5d that my toes hit the end of now and were somewhat tight(I baught them 16 years ago!) Im 38 now... So i thought the XXV's were going to be ok in that size but they feel big on me..Just wanted to ask you all here cause you skate all the time and see what you thought..I dont know if the "X" series run the same as the older Vapor's...

Thank's for any input....

You definately bought too big of a skate. You should have almost no space around your foot inside the skate, any room and your foot will move inside the boot, especially after it is broken in. Your skate should feel like a firm handshake around your foot.

The proper fit of a skate is: your heel at the very back of the skate, tie up the skate, and when standing up straight, your toe should just feather the end of the toe cap. Once you get into the athletic position (knees bent, torso bent fowards), your toes should move ever so slightly away from the toe cap. Don't worry if it feels a bit snug, the skate will break in and mold around your foot.

The X:xx versions of Vapors fit bigger than the older Vapor XXV models. The fits also have wider toe box than the much older Custom Supreme skates, so you may need just a D version. If you can, fit the skates in a store with the type of socks you will skate in and give it time. If you can't and must buy online, then you'll need a 8.5D skateish...that's not a recommendation, just a guess.

Thank's so much for your input!!!

I went to the lhs and tried on Bauer Supreme 30 skates in a size 8.5d (they were on the clearance rack for $85.00 new) and they were just as you described..Toe just feathering the toe cap while standing straight but moved back when i bent my knees...I asked the guy why did my 8.5d Custom 3000's crunch my toes? He said those are a differnt type of skate boot with the "leather type" material that they were made of, compaired to the new skates of today..He said the "leather" might have shrunk too from not useing them for years.. And my foot prolly grew alittle more....Look's like im gonna try the 8.5d's to start....I hope i can sell the Vapor XXV's :D
