chrisg19 5 Report post Posted August 13, 2010 I developed peroneal tendonitis (ankle tendon) from skating. Have any of you had tendonitis at all in the ankle from hockey skates? How long until you were able to skate again? This is really frustrating...I tore my peroneal tendon about a year ago, and needed surgery. Mine was caused by a propensity to roll my ankles outward, which had become so common that the tendon was stretched and tore over the bone of the ankle. I am surprised you would get tendonitis from a hockey skate since tendonitis is usaully an overuse injury, and the ankle is pretty secure inside of it. The only thing I can tell you is tendons heal REALLY slowly because the blood supply is less to them than other tissues. Maybe go to rehab, and do some strengthening when you are able, but I think you probably have a long road ahead. Sorry.
wetwilly17 6 Report post Posted August 13, 2010 supposedly it is not all that rare with skiers and hockey players because the boots can put so much pressure on the ankle from the support they provide.
