Sherwood 5030 (Thibault) Model

Blade: The blade is the "Thibault" curve. it is a very open twist style blade with not alot of rocker. I'm not 100% on the lie but i'm guessing either a 14 or 15. The paddle as well as the blade on the 5030 is the foam core style with an Aspen overlay for strength.

Shaft/Flex: Since this stick is a goalie stick there is no flex rating but the shaft is wooden i believe. Standard length.

Stickhandling/Passes: The stick is very light due to the foam core thus making the 5030 a very easy stick to stickhandle with and to make passes and shots with. Although due to the "twist" in the stock Thibault curve the backhand variety of shots are pretty tough at first.

Shooting: As stated above the shooting with this stick is extremely easy and effortless with the Thibault curve. It allows a nice smooth roll from heel to tip and plenty oh height.

Weight/Balance: The SWD 5030 line of sticks are a foam core constructed stick is the weight is almost nothing. Coming from the old school wooden stick of my youth these foam core sticks are just light as a feather. Also the balance of this particular stick is great not too end heavy and the paddle feels solid under the hand.

Durability: I have only used this stick in a shoot around in my basement and on my back pond today but the stick feels just as solid as anything else out there. ***Note*** I will update you periodically this winter on the durability of the 5030

Intangibles: The looks of this stick are pretty nice too! The finish is very smooth and the graphics are pretty eye catching. My model is black with red SWD lettering with white trim on the SWD. all of the shaft lettering is red as well.

Conclusion: This stick is by far the best all around stick for the price point ( Mid $60 range USD). Having used Hespler, Christian, Sherwood & Bauer sticks. I must say that the Sherwood models will always be my first choice.

The stick is still holding up well. I play about 2 hours a week and the stick looks pretty solid so far. The only thing happening with it is the edges of the paddle and mid shaft area...(i know ha, ha, ha....) anyway those areas are getting a little dinged up but nothing broken badly yet.

3-6-2011

She finally broke down today, took a shot off the paddle about half way up and i heard the dreaded...crack!!!! One more hit a few shots later finished it off. just about 3 months of service...not too bad for a foam core. I may look into the T60 line by Sherwood next.anyone got any opinions.
