Revision Steel wheels

Recommended Posts

I'm very interested in these. I'm about 190lb and I found the Gold wheels chunked out after about 6 months, but the Bronze have been excellent for me. I'm wondering if these new wheels can give the same grip but last a bit longer???

We've been selling the Revision line for almost 6 years and believe it or not, I really have not seen any one wheel chunk out or deteriorate quicker even when big guys use gold or platinum . The speed and efficiency sacrifice has been the main hurdle but a large number of high end players still want maximum grip. Even supplying IIHF Team Canada this year the gold and platinum were still the majority choice for a lot of big men. Don't get me wrong, I know that the harder wheels are the right choice for big men most of the time but it's not as though the platinums or golds explode right away either so we offer our advice based on the matrix options from RV but it a huge amount of grip is still where a lot of players preference lies.

On what kind of surface do you play mainly?

I am searching for new wheels, since the rink rats which came stock with my BOSS SE chunked after a couple of weeks.

I play sports halls mainly. Mostly that 5-a-side football kind of floor, like varnished concrete. Occasionally play on a varnished wooden floor, where the surface isn't as smooth.

I'm quite an aggressive skater, and I think the wooden floor might not help much.

One wheel remained intact, but seperated from the hub - like the pressure of stops and turns eventually peeled it off of the hub. Another wheel split completely - HOWEVER this was because I had a wheel missing before it, so this wheel was taking twice the pressure, on the front too where I do most of my 'digging in' - any wheel would fail under these cirumstances eventually.

Don't get me wrong - I will still always buy Revision wheels for now, as they outlast all of my previous wheels (includeing RR Hornets). I'm just interested to see if I can get more bang for my buck with these new steel wheels.

Hope that helps

Just to add, the RinkRats that came with my Mission LT's also chunked out, but these were the early wheel designs, and RR have since made improvements. I had a set of the improved wheels afterwards and they lasted much longer - however they still didn't quite last as long as Revisions.

Grip wise - it's too close to call!
