speeding up the baking process

Recommended Posts

Let´s assume almost worst case scenario: you´r eat a two day tournament and your skates die somehow the first day. Would it be possible to buy new skates, bake them, then put them in the refrigerator or freezer and have them be ready to go the next day?

I was told not to do this, as some of the glues need to cure properly after heat molding before you use them again - it's not just a termperature thing. I think it was a guy on the CCM stand at the Vegas show a couple of year ago, so it might have changed. If it where me, I'd skip the baking, and risk the blisters.

The guys at my lhs usually tell you not to use baked skates until the next day. So if you give 'em a day's rest, they should be fine...I believe that 6-7 hours of cooling and setting time is adequate at a bare minimum.
