Flex Durability

Recommended Posts

A friend of my mine was telling me about a theory he had regarding flexes and durability. He preferred 100 flex, but had just bought an 85 due to his last 85 lasting him two years. He said that he thought 85's would last longer than 100's because of their lower flex rating. He thought this because the 100 would be stiffer that it would have less give in it, therefor actually making it more brittle. Meaning an 85 would last longer as it would move with slashes and hacks. I couldn't disagree as we see this principal in skyscrapers and bridges.

Anyone have any insight in this?

Sticks in question are RBK 6K's, not sure if that changes things.

It's really all about how the stick is used, the more slashes and shots you take off the stick the more likely it will break has nothing to do with the flex. I have used 85, 90, 95, 100+ flex sticks and they have all lasted about the same. Some sticks(shafts) on the market are make to take a beating like the Easton ST. I can see the theory but if you take a slash or shot off one stick and it breaks, that same shot/slash would mostly break same stick with a different flex. Just my 2 cents though
