Installing Blades in New LS2 Holders

Recommended Posts

After riveting about twenty pairs of holders, I've never figured out how to install blades in a new set of Lightspeed 2 holders without a lot of grief. I've tried everything I can think of, and have to believe there's a "right" way.

How's it done?

Once I get the first set in, I have no problems (I constantly rotate eight sets of Step Steel - which I sharpen at home - through the holders while at school).

Thanks for your help!

I've found that using a heat gun sparingly on its lowest setting is usually enough to soften the plastic without compromising its durability. Then I use a wide-tip awl to open the channel, a rubber mallet and a bit of elbow grease to get the job done. You're gonna get a lot of grief with older sets of LS2 holders, but the newer ones being manufactured have given me far less trouble.
