Lace Bite

Hey guys just starting getting lace bite. Has never happened before in these skates ever. I have had them for like 5 months and this is the first time ever it has happend. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I know its cheap but right now dont want to buy the $20 lace bite guards if I dont need to.
