X7.0 skate

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I am thinking about buying a pair of these as an upgrade to the x30 I currently skate with. I am worried that I will drop a lot of money and wont notice a difference or see any improvement while on the ice. I play about 2 times a week in a mens league and I am 6'0 185 lbs. Is it worth it or not? I would get them baked and pressure molded from my LHS. Thoughts?

The X7.0 is alot of skate. Very stiff and may take you a while to really break it in. I went with the Vapor X7.0 from a lower end skate and it was a bit of adjustment. Looking back I could have went with the X6.0 or even the X5.0 and saved a few $. I skate 2 to 3 times a week for about 2 months and just now feeling good skating in them and still have some red spots on ankles after skating. Still do not feel broken in yet. Overall the X7.0 is a great skate if it is in the budget go for it. They should last you a long time skating a few times a week.

I have the 7.0LE. Came from a XXXX. Same level of skate clearly so I haven't had to deal with an upgrade, I'm used to the skate. I can tell you that the 7.0 is an awesome skate and if you are playing 2-3 times a week you will feel a difference and it will be a positive one. The stiffness will give you more power and responsiveness. It won't break down as easily. The heel lock is awesome. Its a great skate.

You could also try to find a nice used pair of x:60s on the cheap as an experiment. The X7.0 has the fit and stiffness of the old x:60, so a used (not beat up) pair of x:60s might tell you what you could expect out of a future new pair of higher-end skates. Mess around in the x:60s until you are sure. Just something you can consider.
