Problem with Easton Grip

Recommended Posts

A couple of years ago, I managed to find a pair of unused Easton Synergy Grip sticks (Original Gold ones) for a steal and thought I would keep them in the best condition I could as they were the stick I always coveted when I was younger. The original gold standard of the one piece stick. They were kept in a plastic sleeve cover, with the two of them inside a stick bag in a storage room in my house.

The problem is, as I live in a tropical climate, I assume the heat or humidity has messed with them and after opening the bag for the first time in a couple years, I noticed the sticks were sticky. On further inspection, it turns out the grip coating had completely melted and had attached itself to the plastic sleeve it was in, which i subsequently had to cut off. The sticks are now very sticky, and when i tried to wash one of them off it did nothing. I then tried to use kitchen surface cleaner on one of them, and while it got rid of the melted sticky grip coating, it also started wearing off the graphics which I do not want. After trying to keep these sticks in mint condition, it really bums me out that they are both probably ruined.

Anyone else had similar problems with grip on Easton sticks? Any suggestions to resolve this or to restore the grip coating? I am considering possibly spraying them with clear just to try get rid of the sticky finish and keep them looking as they do, but I'm not sure how wise this is. Any help/info would be great.

definitely sounds like the humidity, bummer. i think a clear spray would be the best bet. another option would be goo off but that would likely remove some more graphic
