Solidus433 1 Report post Posted April 4, 2012 Ok, need some for informed advice. Im planning on buying a pair of t.6 or equivalent skates for league play, but i also want a skate to get back into hockey shape. I want to be able to skate around the neighborhood and not ruin a 200 dollar pair of skates on asphalt so i was thinking of picking up a pair of a.3 skates for outdoor/rec skating. Does anyone have any experience with these skates to say wether or not they would be a worthwhile purchase? Thanks in advance everyone.
mhkehoe 1 Report post Posted April 4, 2012 Unless you are a new skater, you would be better off buying a pair of T6 skates and some outdoor wheels (and bearings). They may get a little dirty, but they shouldn't be ruin if you aren't falling a ton. And you can always wipe off the dirt if you are concerned about it.The two skates will also fit a little differently so it is best to just get used to one. berky 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2012 I literally just bought the A3's last week. I've only worn them for 1 game so far, but I really like them. they are made in E width, which was crucial for me. I replaced the bearings with the Rock'n Rons I had on my old pair of skates.Honestly, I have no idea what the difference is between the "cheap" pair of skates and higher end skates, other than the bearings and boot colors. I know some of the under carriages are maybe made of a slightly lighter/stronger material, but can you really tell a difference? maybe that's just me, but imo, save yourself some cash, get the cheaper boots, a nice set of bearings, and enjoy. sharks25 9 Report post Posted April 19, 2012 Huge difference. Much stiffer, more padding that also is thermoformable, better foams that won't break down as fast, better outsole, better quarter package. The list could go on. If you skate in a3s then go skate in t10s you'll know what I mean.
#eight 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2012 I would go for a T6 over the A3. The A3 is a great priced boot.. but lacking in boot support. If your not a 5yr old beginner you will shred through the skates. Shell out thos extra pennies and get the T6.. Or like Sharks25 says... go for T10's! sdcopp 1 Report post Posted April 19, 2012 Will your outdoor skating just be through the neighborhood trying to rebuild your legs and stride, or will you be playing any type of outdoor hockey? If it's just skating around the neighborhood I'd say ditch the idea of getting hockey skates for outdoors and get a pair of fitness/rec skates like the Rollerblade Spark 80 http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/Rollerblade_Spark_80_Inline_Skates_for_Men_2012/descpage-12S80M.html
