Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 The chassis on one of my mission t9 skates (right skate) has become squeaky and it has almost a loose or slightly flexible feel when I skate and push off on it.None of the rivets appear to be loose and the chassis itself doesn't really move when i push on it with my hand but I can make it squeak just by pushing on it. I know the problem isnt a loose wheel or unclean bearings because I have taken all that off and cleaned my bearings and everything and It still squeaks with no wheels on the chassis. I have only had my skates sense around September (2012)... what could the problem be?
guitarfreek92 7 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 i cant remember correctly does the t9 have a plastic bottom or composite?
Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted March 11, 2013 Full composite outsole, its a top of the line skate.
STLHOCKEY 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2013 I have the same problem going on. Had my since jan 12 and my rivets look good and no flex either when i apply pressure but if i'm just standing on my skates and rock side to side they are both squeaking for me. Other thing i am noticing is my bottom is chippiing around the edges the bottom. No cracks through the middle or anything but some small chips.
Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 Do you have mission t9 skates aswell?Yeah mine do the same thing, they squeak when im standing on them especially if i rock side to side a little bit but when i push off its worse, they almost feel "weaker" for lack of a better word. I have some chips on the outsoles of mine too. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? or how to solve it?
greasy17 19 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 The rivets could be loosening in the sole from all of the pressure of your body weight causing the squeaking. You will not be able to replicate the sound with your hands when the skates are off unless you an absolute monster strength wise.If I were in your shoes or skates for this matter (pun intended), I would punch out all of the rivets holding on the chassis and replace them with T-Nuts. It is really simple because the holes are already lined up perfectly for you, all that you may need to do is enlarge them to accomodate the T-Nuts. That should repair the problem. Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 I have taken out the insole of my skate and looked at all the rivets plus felt then all and they are all flat and appear to be in good condition. I can replicate the sound with just my hands and it doesn't even take a monstrous amout of force, I just have to wiggle and push on the chassis. I dont know if its relevent or if it helps but I'm not a huge guy, I only weight 150lbs so I'm not putting too much stress on my skates while I'm skating but the problem is still noticeable. Any other ideas/suggestions guys?
greasy17 19 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 Is the chassis loose, like you can manipulate it back and forth with just your hands? If so maybe some of the rivets sheered off and it only appears to be ok. Otherwise maybe your sole is cracked somehow.
Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 Chassis doesnt seem to by loose, and it doesnt really move at all. I dont see any cracks in the sole or chassis itself but im starting to think it might be that?
greasy17 19 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 That is weird. There might be a stress fracture somewhere in either the chassis or sole that really only shows up to the visible eye when you are skating. It will probably become progressively worse the more you skate on it.
STLHOCKEY 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 Yes i do have the T9's as well and structurally they feel solid. I weigh 215 so i'm on the heavier side of the spectrum. It had me checking my wheels and bearings as well cause it does sound like it could be an accessory issue versus hardware but appears not.
Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted March 12, 2013 Is there any fix to a cracked frame if the crack isnt noticeable by eye?
Morgz 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2013 I have this exact problem with some RX:60s on my right skate.I took them to a shop here in NZ and they seemed to think it was where the outsole had been joined to the bottom of the boot.I wouldn't trust anything they say though they are clueless. Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted March 17, 2013 My chassis ended up cracking and I had to bring my skates back to where I bought them. They told me it was a warranty-able issue so we are sending them to Mission.Should be about another week before I hear what Mission is going to do with them...Then another week after that until I either get replacements or mine sent back to me, fixed. Hopefully this all gets figured out, $500 skates should not break like that after just 6 months of usage.
greasy17 19 Report post Posted March 18, 2013 Hopefully Mission takes care of you! Was it the Magnesium Vanguard chassis on that skate?
Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted March 18, 2013 Yes, magnesium chassis
wehojp84 5 Report post Posted March 30, 2013 Any update on what mission had to say? I have the T9s and have the exact dame problem as well!
Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted April 1, 2013 My chassis broke, the magnesium itself cracked/snapped. I took them back to the place I bought them, and they started the warranty process with me.. (takes about 3 weeks)I finally heard from them last week and mission has sent a replacement pair in the mail. They are coming from Canada though so shipping is slow because of customs and everything else. When they arrive where I purchased the original skates they will give me a call and I just have to go in and pick them up. I should be getting them sometime this week.
