Speed Demon 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2004 Less then a week ago (on saturday), I was playing hockey and went into the boards quite hard, knee first.I suffered from a bruised quadricep muscle (musclevastus medialis) on my right leg, as shown in this picture:http://pic14.picturetrail.com/VOL507/23705...06/76063347.jpg The bruised quadricep immediately began to swell and I could had a limp for two days. As of yesterday (wednesday, 4 days after the injury) I could walk without pains and currently my conscern is with a popping/snapping in my knee that is taking place near the area in which my finger is pointing in the following picture:http://pic14.picturetrail.com/VOL507/23705...06/76063298.jpgthe popping/snapping occurs when I fully extend my leg and as I start to bend my knee, it snaps. So as my leg is in the picture, when I just barely start to bend my knee, a little snap happens and you can literally feel it occuring. There is no pain when doing this. I have been told that this perhaps may be the cartilage that is hardened after the injury and the snap/popping will go away shortly. Can anyone confirm this as true or is this a problem I should have checked out? Thanks.
cds 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2004 That popping happened to me when I strained my MCL.......it went away pretty quickly though. I don't think there's anything to worry about.
turcotte44 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 i have a tear in my minisucus(well it hasent been confirmed, still need an MIR but thats the assumption) anyways the second day without realizing i was injurewd i heard the cracking sound right in the middle of my knee whenver i bent it. It went a way shortly but my knee swelled big time. Hey by the way whats the wait time for an MIR in the states, preferably buffalo area, and how much would it cost me. Ive got a 4-5 wekk wait but than again its free.
crosskore 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Your knee poping could be your knee cap comming out of the "knee cap groove". The bruise on your muscle very well could have weakend some of the muscles around your knee or around your leg, causing other muscles to be able to slightly pull your kneecap out of the spot its suppose to be on. I would suggest some stretches daily to loosen up some of your leg muscles. In time when your muscle is fulyl healed, everything should be fine. If not, maybe you should see someone about it.Iam not a doctor, and there could be alot of things wrong with the knee. The above is just one suggestion. all-star 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 any weird sound in your knee is most likely your miniscus. i messed mine up. and it would make popping and cracking noises. and dislocate every so often. my advice, go see a doctor.
blackhawks4ever 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Sounds like a miniscus (medial)injury; and the initial swelling/brusing was from a spraon/tear to the Medial collateral ligament. If all the swelling is gone and the clicking persists its time for an MRI. Good luck!!!
2048 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Is it possible for a knee to just normally click? My left knee clicks and cracks all the time, but it's not always painful.
crosskore 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 yeah. Mine does it. Sounds like when you crack your knucles or something.
