Graf skate fit and general skate width question

Recommended Posts

When the width of the skate is referred to, is that the entire boot or just the area of the fore foot?

The reason I ask and to elaborate my situation; I am trying a pair of Graf G7 regular width that fits perfectly everywhere except on one skate, at the side of the big toe joint and ever so slightly where the side of the little toe is. It seems that a punching out would do it in these spots. If the skate were wider just in this area, that could possibly do it as well, but if it were wider around the arch area or anywhere else on the foot, that would be too much room.

Also, regarding length, one foot's toe's perfectly feathers the toe cap, the other foot (same one that has the tightness issue above) touches just a little too much at the big toe (my longest part of my foot). Is this length something that a LHS could stretch just a hair?

Thank in advance for your input and Cheers.

Thanx guitarfreek (sweet user name btw). Yeah, after putting these on a few times it feels like I might be in that perfect skate I've been hearing others talk about for years. "The one that feels a bit too tight but your glad you dealt with the early discomforts rather than going up a size."

But if I go wider anywhere other than the front, it won't fit this well I'm thinking.

Thanx again for the input. I'll follow up with my future findings.

np and thanks! plus if you really don't want deal with the pain your lhs should be able to push out that spot then if will form back in once its broken in. i had to do this with my graf's. because of a foot injury once i had them for like 2 months the spot reformed back in so it looked like it orginaly did out of box.

My LHS heated up the boots, punched the areas out just a tad and the skates fit like a glove. For the record it was the sharp edges of the toe cap that were the most uncomfortable. The punching out fixed it.

...now I skate like a newborn fawn though :) It's a whole new world in these Graf G7's. But I can tell it is all for the better!

Thanks again guitarFreak. Jam on!
