They are relatively new - started in 2001.

I only play ice & DEK (Street) Hockey here in NYC and in my DEK leagues the Frontier is used by about 95% of the participants.

I love them because of the different selection of blade patterns but they're rarely on sale.

Actually - www.hockeymonkey.com has 20% sale so you can get a Frontier blade for $20 but you can only get the #19 or #6 pattern.
