RBK 5K skates......to a new model - diff manufacturer?

Recommended Posts

Hey all. It's been too long since I've been on - had a long break and missed my fellow MSHers....

Anyways....... here is the scoop.

My daughter (whose feet won't stop growing) is now 14, going on 15. She needs new skates, however we are on somewhat of a budget.

The problem lies here: Her last 2 pairs of skates have been RBK 5K. Got the last pair on pretty much a closeout deal at my local Perani's. I popped in there last week - they no longer have any. She was a 4.5D then, probably a 6 now. She is very picky about fit, tried pretty much everything, and always go back to this model (doesn't use the pump though). Vapors are too "boxy" in the toe box for her for example.

The salesman I spoke to suggested maybe trying the Supreme line in Bauer - which is one we did not try on last time, as he said it would probably be closest to the 5K - they don't have the current model equivalent in stock, so I'd have to jump up to the 16K (I think), which is out of my range. Plus she is resigned to being a house league player from now on out.

Any suggestions as to a closely related fit that might work? I know there are quite a few skate experts here, and was hoping to tap into their vast knowledge.

Try looking at CCM's RBZ line. I went from a 7K to the RBZ 80, and like your daughter I found the vapors' toe to be a bit 'boxy'. Supreme's fit me pretty well (I use Missions for inline), but the RBZ line is even more moldable and seem to fit a wider variety of feet.
