Bauer Vapor X100 depth and lace bite issue

Recommended Posts

I bought Vapor X100s and skated on them a few times. In the store they felt pretty supportive. Then when I skated on them at practice I had awful lace bite on my tendon. Both of my feet developed cysts but I didn't tie them tight at all. My previous skates have been Reebok and Bauer Supremes. The only reason I bought the vapors in the first place was for the ankle support. I wish I would have stuck with my gut and gone with supreme or reebok, but I want to get the most out of my money so does anyone have any tips to fix the depth/lace bite issue?

Punch out the heel? I wouldn't do something permanent like that when the issue isn't in the heel.

Rebake is a good idea, definitely do not lace all the way to the top eyelet.

I went to a custom hockey skate shop and they said they would have to extend the eyelets with some leather and add a layer of felt to the tongue. I'm not confident that this will help much. I've tried everything from lacing out to in, not lacing to the top eyelet, and using super feet. I would rather not ruin the integrity of the skate by taking a chance and screwing with the eyelets. I have decided to try to sell the skates and get the most out of them than taking any chances. I have posted these on ebay as well as craigslist. I bought them for $430 and I'm going to sell them for $320. I can not add a new "sell topic" so if anyone knows anybody with a size of 5D please consider these Bauer Vapor X100 skates. They have only been worn twice to stick times. There is only one slightly noticeable mark on the toe. I wore red socks so the felt has some red felt pieces on them. They are in almost new condition.
