Bauer Supreme skate lacing question

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was recently given a pair of Total Ones and find it really difficult to lace all the way to the top without it feeling painfully stiff and pushing me back towards my heels.

Prior to this, I've usually used skates that have the tech mesh upper vs. the composite. These usually have more flex.

I've started to keep the top eyelets unlaced, and obviously this really gives me more forward flex. Do other people find this to be an issue on the top end Supreme and Vapor lines - the material being so stiff that you have to tweak the lacing?

Of course, especially for the kids who aren't as heavy. That is almost a necessity these days with a really stiff skate; a tradeoff almost between support/energy transfer and mobility.

I skip the 4th eyelet from the top to get a bit more flex in the boot but I still lace all the way up (I'm in a 7.5D NXG). I've tried lacing all but the top eyelet but I didn't find it stable enough for my liking.

I'm using a 7.5D NXG as well, it took me a while playing around with lacing tightness until I found the most comfortable and stable feel..

I will make the bottom 3 eyelets tight, then middle eyelets firm, top 2 eyelets tight again..
