Hockey Balls....

I just got back into playing hockey and I remember using balls when playing outdoor just because I could never find a puck that didn't bounce all over the place (Although I did just get in a couple ProPucks, which are supposed to be alright). I remember using a pretty heavy orange ball, but I can't remember what brand it was. I looked around and it seemed that mylec G-Force balls semmed to be the most popular so I got a few of those. They aren't bad, but tend to hop over the blade of your stick if you really get going and are pretty light. Anyway, what kind of balls do you guys suggest? Which ones that you know of are the heaviest?

Or, what I do, get yourself a piece of plexiglass (if you have a local rink nearby, ask and see if they have any broken glass they don't mind letting go) and use the standard, run-of-the-mill 6oz black puck.

I play in a ball hockey league as well as pickup ball hockey a couple times a week. I know here in Canada we have different coloured balls for different temperatrures. The Mylec balls are pretty good and don't have a lot of bounce. They are also fairly heavy to feel closer to a puck.

I've thought about the green biscuit and the smart balls actually, but I'm looking for something that's more versatile and not just for training specific areas, but I probably will pick these up eventually. The Mylec balls down here are different colors for different temperatures too, and they don't bounce horribly, so I'll probably stick to these for now. I was just wondering if there was anything heavier out there.

The liquid filled Mylecs don't bounce as much as the regular ones. They're a bit more expensive ($6.99 vs $3.99 in my area)

My outdoor ball league uses the RED hot weather Franklins AGS. That and the RED Mylec G-Force are the best I've used. They have a nice heavy feel to them and don't bounce around like the orange balls.

Yeah, I've since picked up some of the G-Forces and I'm liking them now. As far as pucks, the propucks seem to work decently (as far as pucks on asphalt go), but still waaay too bouncy to play with. Have any outdoor puck suggstions? I'm playing on an outdoor hockey court, but its just pavement. It's pretty smooth pavement though.

Played a little bit today and tried to use all of the balls I got (1 of each color/temperature) to break them in a bit and noticed that the red and orange balls seem to be harder than the others, while the yellow one is noticeably softer. I guess this may have something to do with the temperature thing, but I can't remember which color is for what temperature.

Yellow is for cold, Orange is for up to 75 about, and Red is above that. Playing indoors we always use Orange.
