Shin width help.

So, I'm looking to get some new shins which I haven't purchased since my classic pair of of late 1990s Bauer Supreme 1000 Canadian Tire special pads. They're 14" and pretty stocky, thick pads. I want something a little less bulky; I'm not really blocking many shots these days. I'm 5'7 and around 200lbs with pretty thick calves. I want to get a more slim pair but I don't know what direction to go. Are there pads that aren't as bulky as the Nexus line but would accommodate a thicker calf. Where should I start, or what line? I know something like a Mako type pad would be no good at all and I've tried the previous CCM line and it didn't work either. Thanks.

The Mako will taper a bit more. For a slender shin pad I'd look into something from the Easton Stealth II lineup (RS II, 75S II, 55S II.) Just make sure it is the second gen. The first gen Stealth RS protective used this really shitty foam throughout the lineup. Blocks of this foam would just crack and break off. Easton addressed this in the second gen.
