rlutz88 2 Report post Posted December 11, 2014 Recently fractured by big toe (intra-articular) and have been looking for answers on how long I needed to stay out of hockey (beer league). After searching for probably hours, I wanted to throw my timeline/treatment out there in case anyone else breaks their toe and comes upon this site.Fractured my right big toe which extended into the joint. I was at a party but immediately iced it for 25-30 minutes (crucial to reduce the inflammation!!). I continued walking on it that night and waited until the next morning for x-rays. My "treatment" included buddy taping my big toe to the next one and walking on the outside of my foot with a limp for about 2 weeks. After 3-4 weeks I could walk fine, but definitely did not feel like I could get any power out of that foot if I skated. I continued buddy taping my foot for 5 weeks, which is when I returned to beer league hockey. I was expecting my toe to hurt but to my surprise I was playing at about 90% with no pain.End result: Big toe fracture, intra-articular with buddy taping as my only treatment took me roughly 5 weeks to get back to playing. Obviously try to stay off the toe and don't rush coming back... that was a tough 5 weeks though
Avalanche_Yeti 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2014 I would stay off it since you said you couldn't use the outside foot which you need. also you don't want to screw it up even more. your also obviously going to be using your toe. id stay off of it
