Dynasty HD1 elbow pads vs Dynasty AX1 elbow pads

I just got the HD1's in the mail, when I looked at em and compared them they seemed to have less thick padding but it was harder. Also it looked like the biceps guard was shorter and fit Completely different then my ax1's. A lot tighter. Is that how they are meant to Fit? Also does anyone who skated with them compared the too protection wise.
