Broken holder need some help.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just got back from playing some hockey and noticed that my holder on my Easton Ultra Lite skate was broken. Well my family cant afford new skates or holder seeing as its pretty tight for money with christmas and all. so im wondering if its safe to play on it. I know its not the smartest thing to do but its either skate on the skate or dont play hockey at all. here are some pictures of what the break looks like.

The holders are size 280. hopefully there safe to skate on or i can fix them if not then that would be great if you'd be willing to let me have your holders but Ill use that as my last option because I wouldnt feel right taking your holders if i could just fix my skates.

well I didnt notice anything wrong when I was skating last nite and then noticed it this morning when looking at them.. But if its un-safe then I really dont want to test it out again.

Try going get it switched, I know moneys tight, but around here it'll cost you $30, which is basically what you'd be wasting sitting out anyways.

A month ago I broke a tuuk and didnt have time to get it replaced...so I put a strip of hockey tape over each of the 2 cracks then brushed superglue on the tape until it was saturated. When the tape dried it was hard as a rock. It bound the cracks so that the tukk didnt flex when i put weight on it...survived 2 games and 3 practices before I changed the tuuk. Although Id never advocate skating on a busted holder i was shocked at how well the patch job held up. I dont know how safe it would be on bigger cracks (mine were about 2 inches on either side). I tried epoxy before that and it didnt hold up nearly as well as the tape and superglue...Despite all this - I still say its better to replace it. 30$ is cheaper than a broken leg.
