lecavalier 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 Hi.For you all who play roller hockey, how do you fix the holes when your shells rip and get friction burn?Lately,my team's defense sucks total bum so I'm skating back waay too much and going on my knees to block shots and sorta diving to break up a breakaway or a 2 on 1 etc.I got 2 new holes today on my knees and i'm getting a bit disappointed seeing as how I have used these pants no more than 4 sessions.I can tell they're friction burns because they hard and looks like they're melted. So any advice/tips?Would sewing some material over it help? Thanks. MDE3 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 some of the newer design pants use a slipperier material that slides better(on sport court or other sport floors) and does not get burn holes as easily..will find you some brands(I think we have about 20 pairs of pants from different manufacturers and teams over the years....will see look and see which ones endured the best)....if you are playing on wood, or painted concrete, or regular concrete/asphalt..not much will help..... at one point it was like a badge of honor to wear the most delapidated pants you could find...sort of like models wearing pre-ripped jeans.... Grinder 2 Report post Posted January 24, 2005 Yeah, wear those tears and tatters with pride! Who are you more afraid of going into the corner against: The dainty-looking primma donna with a neat, tidy, scuff-free uniform that's neatly creased and ironed, or the guy who's gear is all beat to hell and looks as though it regularly gets involved in some serious play-hard-or-go-home grinding action?FWIW, I have a pair of mission pants that got so badly holed and torn that I turned them into cutoffs to wear to pick up games in the summer. I don't mind the scratches on my shin and knee pads, and the plastic actually glides really well on the polished cement that we play on.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted January 25, 2005 like what grinder did... i just got them cut just above the top of the shin pads. works out fine, especially since its freakin hot in Singapore... average of mid 90s all year round...
MDE3 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2005 Looking through my collection.....I would say the best are the Hystyk stuff followed by the Missions. Have Black Biscuits, Hyper, Nexed, and the Hystyks look like they were the toughest, followed closely by the Mission stuff...(now if they can just get their skates to last like that..... :P )
