Skates down 3-3.5 sizes from shoe?

Recommended Posts

I also just bought new skates that ended up being about 2.5-3 sizes smaller than my shoe size. I usually wear 10.5 (sometimes 10) shoes and got 7.5 skates. It's crazy how much they can change in terms of size after break-in. I'd highly recommend going to a legit hockey shop (not sportschek or other all sports stores that don't know crap about hockey). They really know what they're doing. I had been wearing size 8's in supremes and the supreme I was interested in was out of 8's at the shop. So based on my sizing he said I could probably be in a 7.5 anyways. So I tried them on and I said righty away "yeah they're a bit too small". I could feel my toes brushing up against end, and yeah I knew they're supposed to feather but they seemed to be touching a bit too much.

Anyways I left the right skate on and I was trying a number of other ones on my left and just being in the shop walking around with it on my foot for 10 mins was actually starting to make it feel better. It actually felt like I was getting more room. Then I baked them and took them home, def felt better and after skating a few times they feel even bigger. I almost feel like I could even go half a size down to 7. Bottom line is, trust the guys who really know what they are talking about. Keep in mind with the materials and moldability of the skates these days, that they can definitely start to feel better and even longer as you break them in. You don't want to risk getting a skate that's too big because you're really going to affect your skating ability
