Has vh been doing 3d foot scanning for their hockey skates? Where can one get this done?
-
Which dealers/stores do the 3d fitting?
-
Just found out you can order sizes 7-10 now. I may be putting in another order soon. The vh footwear facebook page has pictures of the black skate(new versions). Their twitter feed also has a skate with blue accent.
-
When can we order?

The LS3 regular steel is a 10 foot radius and the LS3 fusion is a 9 foot radius I believe. So if you go with the regular LS3 steel(NOT the fusion) then you should be at the same radius as the speed blade. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

How often do NHLers get to change their skates in a season though? (I do not know the answer. Just throwing it out there.) I guess I think of basketball shoes. I doubt most NBA players use one pair of shoes the whole season. From what I hear some players change shoes in games. By no means am I saying that basketball shoes or skates are or should be on the same durability level. They are indeed quite different. How often do most NHLers get to skate in a new pair of skates? Certainly I had the option to send them back to Scott Van Horne for repairs but I can't even be two-days without my skates because of how much my job depends on them. Still, if these are the same skates being made for NHLers I'd expect them to stand up to the grind of coaching travel hockey and playing mens league.

Yeah. I bought a second pair as "back up." The all black pair was my second pair of VHs. The fit once you get it dialed in is incomparable.
-
BOOM... See i got your back
-
Figured I would post since I haven't seen any of these with black holders to give people frame of reference in case they were interested in the look or not. Love it or hate it at least you can see what it looks like and make a decision. :)

flexible tendon. felt tongue.
-
The regular tendon guards have no flex. do these flex even a little?
-
To be honest, my skates felt pretty snug from the moment I laced them up without baking. I did not feel that I had to use the ace bandage method when I heat molded. After heat molding and just lacing them up they were even more snug(not tight, but just perfect).
-
Thanks for the pic! Yes, I think thats what everyone wants to know... will this tendon guard hold up better? It looks like if you are flexing it that much that the rivet shouldn't pop out.
-
Sorry. What do you mean exactly? I am wondering if what you have will be more durable than the original design.
-
What is "custom" about the tendon guard?

I just wanted to post my thoughts on my VH skates. I've had the skates for a few months but it has been tough to for me to find ice time outside of games to try them out and subsequently send them back to Scott for tweaks. Finally had some extra ice time over the past few weeks and I did not like the width of one of the skates. So the last thing I had Scott do was widen my right skate a tad and I sent it back. The right skate came back to me today. I baked it as soon as I got home and then used them about 2 hours later for my adult house league game. This is the first time I have skated on them and felt that BOTH skates were a PERFECT fit. As someone had previously stated before, its like having gloves on your feet. The skates are so damn comfortable. Since it is carbon fiber and the boot truly is one piece for the most part, they are extemely responsive. There is no slop at all during crossovers in the toebox area. I actually tried on a pair of graf 9035's this past weekend and they are nowhere near as perfectly fitting as the VHs. If you think about it the VHs are not that much more expensive than top of the line graf's or bauer's etc. but they are essentially exact fits to each individual foot! Well worth the extra 100-200 to purchase these over a top of the line graf/bauer/ccm/rbk in my opinion. My only concern is the longevity of the skates. I suppose only time will tell. I know people have been having issues with the tendon guard. Hopefully those are the exceptions rather than the rules. I hope these VH skates catch on more. They are amazing skates and I look forward to the improvements Scott will make over time.

Any of u guys go from reebok to mako? how did the fit translate? ie what size were you in reebok and what size did you end up in in Mako?
-
So obviously this thread will have a lot of people with their VH issues. Just wondering if there are people out there WITHOUT any long term issues on these skates? Since I ordered my skates I've had to get them tweaked. Scott has been super responsive and I appreciate him helping out. With that said I have not been using them regularly because they've been getting tweaks here and there. But reading through these posts makes me worried that after 6 months they will fall apart. Anyone been using these for more than 6 months without issues? Happy 4th by the way!

So... My skates are in. Haven't had time to bake and mold them yet. Question for everyone though... How the hell do you get them on?! Are people undoing the top few eyelets? With the skates on they feel really good. They hug the foot really nicely again without being molded.

Boo... No email today. Out here in the bay area as well. Well... East bay tri valley to be exact.
-
Did you get an email or tracking number after it was sent out?
-
to the cali vh users... how did scott ship skates? USPS? UPS? Fedex?
-
Some Logistical questions about the skate. Does VH footwear send them out sharpened if you'd like? I suppose I could email scott but I'd rather not clutter his inbox with this question. Anyone know? I don't live too close to a decent sharpener and if I have a week or so to bake, testfit, and skate in them all while working 60-70hours a week it might be difficult.

Just placed an order. Excited! Will post pics whenever I receive them. I'm pretty sure the skates will improve my ability to dangle on the ice as well as pick up chicks off the ice. They may allow me to drink more beer following games as well.
