Speaking retail, APX1 were Curv/Alive, as were APX2.

Last top-model tech mesh was the x:60 (the generation before the APX1 was introduced), prior to that the XXXX, and the XXX before that. Don't know about earlier models as those pre-date me playing hockey.
Same year that the APX1 was released, the x7.0 (not X7.0, which was mid-tier) was the second-tier skate that was identical to the x:60/XXXX.

The APX1 was extremely stiff, with a tongue that offered very little protection. APX2 was said to be less stiff in the boot, as plenty of people complained. So I wouldn't be surprised if the APX1 retail is stiffer than what is out now in retail.

    Pro-Stock there was the Nexus 1N/7000 V-Cut, which was a x7.0 re-dressed as a Nexus skate.

Thanks for the response. I guess I’ll throw new runners on and wear these until something falls apart. 😂

Just from my knowledge of the materials, I would say that there's no comparison. Today's skates are much stiffer. I owned the One95s and I can say that the 2S Pros are in a different league in stiffness. The CCM Super Tacks are not quite as stiff as the 2S pros, and from my understanding the as1 and as3 pro are stiffer than the 2015 Super Tacks, and probably similar to the 2S Pros, give or take a little.

I was curious about this as I still skate my APX’s.  A shop guy at perrani’s said that the APX is stiffer than anything current.

im tempted to try something new...but if it ain’t broke...

While no matter what the setup, you need enough sticks for people to try, which requires a lot of overhead cost, just an indoor shooting setup with some targets and a speed gun would get people closer to where they need to be than going in blind.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I agree. A testing facility with a gun would be great. Just to feel the kick and balance of sticks.

In the golf world people pay big bucks for a good fitting. 🤷

  4. I know things probably slowed down a bit over the past year.

But...I just watched a Coach Jeremy video where he basically went through the hockey equivalent of a golf club fitting. iPads, sensors on pucks and sticks.

I used to work at a golf pro shop and fit clubs, so this definitely peaked my interest

    How do you locate them?

I am south of Nashville now and I know the rinks I have visited do not have this tech. At least not that I have seen.

I searched this topic, but nothing popped up.   Sorry if this is common knowledge these days

I've been away from hockey for about 7 years, but got back on the ice a couple weeks back.

  5. ANy word on release of the E28 in other sticks, stronger flex, or replacement blades? My Mako II lasted 4 skates before it felt like a 70 flex. EVeryone would say "no way that is a 100 flex stick". Worse part was, at first it was whippy but had pop....4 skates in whippier and no longer any pop. SO now I look for the E28 as I think it is one of the best curves on the market.

  6. I still say it's a niche. They seem to be loved by people on the board but I never see (m)any actually used in the years I've played. I see maybe one a year, dating back to the time I first saw the old Christian Pittsburgh pattern.

I remember that curve! That was a pretty nasty toe curve back then!

I am expecting a slightly more aggressive Versteeg when I see the E28

  7. Had glass seats to the sharks game right behind the net. Awesome game too, Miller played awesome. I wish they would have put one in I'm front of me, but it was still fun to say the least.

Those seats are great! Saw the Sharks beat the Wings and the Blackhawks in those seats.

  8. well the gf of just over a year kinda cheated on me. Not in the sense of actually hooking up with someone else but well on its way to that point. I am not the type to really freak out about innocent conversation with an old friend but to the point they were at sending pics and stuff along those lines really put me over the edge. Dunno what to do now. Havent broke it off yet but im gonna wait it out a little while and calm myself before making any decisions. Friggen broads i tell ya!

Thats bull!!! Pictures and texts are over the line in my book. Sorry to hear that.

Makes my vent about the Sharks trading one of their hardest working guys seem pretty trivial. Take care Jamie McGinn.

  9. Then they wouldn't be a $215 glove.

Really nothing wrong with gloves made in the Phillipines; TPS made their actual pro stock HGT Pro and R8 Pro there for quite some time as well as their retails. The Winnwell variant of the glove is made in that same factory and they're a solid glove.

Best glove I have owned. Much better quality than a pair of Franchise I owned prior to these.
