  1. A 17 year old kid was shot four times and rushed to the ER today, just as I was about to go home. I had to rush back into the hospital and prepare for an immediate surgery that lasted just over 6 hours. When we got him he had already died once in the ambulance, but was revived by the paramedics. We were able to stabilize him and successfully finish the surgery in about 6 hours and 15 minutes. The kid is now in stable condition and will soon be able to see his parents. The best part of the entire surgery is telling his family that we were able to bring their son back to life, and he is in good shape. That part of my job never gets old, although it does suck coming home at midnight to an entire family whose asleep.

Yeah but to that entire family, your entire family, and the rest of us you are a super hero! I bet it felt pretty damn good walking out of the hospital tonight! Strong work.

I wish I would have gone to school when I was younger. I am now trying to figure out; A. Do I go back to school get my BS, then go to grad school to become a PA. B. Get the pre-req's out of the way to go to Nursing school. C. Go through Paramedic School and stay with the fire service.

I love being a fireman but don't like all the down time. I bet you would not trade your time in the Hospital for anything!

  2. To continue with this, after calling 911 on my dad yesterday (looks like he has some sort of blockage) I went to my doctor because my blood pressure hasn't dropped down. After a EKG and blood pressure medication prescription, they want me to see a cardiologist. I am officially on the shelf for the time being, which means I will not participate in on-ice SummerJam activities next month.

You and your dad are in my prayers! I am sure one of the Dr.'s have mentioned to you that getting less than 8 hours sleep can drastically elevate your blood pressure. Plus, each night without good sleep will add up on the BP. SO hopefully that has a big part to do with it.

  3. I want to know how the higher flex in the widow construction will feel. I have not had a chance to use one at all but when I hear people say that the taper whips like a 75 flex, it makes me wonder how much the increase to like a 110 flex would be comparable to? I know it seems logical that it would feel like an 85 or 90, but when I order one I would want to know a little more than my guess. WIll it only effect the flex in the hands or will it effect the taper portion as well? I don't want to ask a stupid question but I have to risk it on this one.

  4. The Zetterberg curve is a P88 clone..Correct??? But it it will not be available for "a period of time" if I read correctly. Any guesses/speculations/quotes on how long that might be???

no. If you read the previous posts on this topic it clearly states the w88 will not be out for a while. WHen the customizer opens up, Zetterberg's actual pro stock curve will be available. It is most similar to a p91a

  5. so if i get this right the customiser is basicaly pro stock sticks with your own choices of stock curve, flex and graphics and blade material? only thing the nhl players have more is that they can send in their own curve on top of all this with maybe flex zone in stick and blade stiffness. will it say pro stock no warranty on the sticks when u buy them from the customiser? also noticed you can throw in your name on the shaft like pros

If you go back a page or two they talk about the 30 day warranty and if you break it they will give you the option of waiting for an exact replica 4-6 week turn around time or a retail stick which will come faster.

After reading a lot of the same questions along with some of the comments that make it seem like it is not enough,

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU TO WARRIOR FOR OFFERING SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

  6. You'd have to be a pretty small guy for that to be true

    http://www.drunkdrivingdefense.com/general/bac.htm

It depends on how they are poured, but how many bars only put one shot in a drink? How many bars serve 12 ounce beers. And the beer they are talking about is 4% a lot of good beers are double that, so it definitely depends on what beer and who is pouring the drinks.

A 180 lb man will hit .17 after 4 24 ounce domestic beers. If it is the good stuff in the 8-10% range you are now looking at wine numbers which go by 5 ounce increments, so two 24 ounce beers if they are strong will get you .17. The only reason I am putting this up here is because most people have no idea what it takes to get to levels well above legal. The worst part is, after four hours without a drink after your 2 24 ounce beers like sierra or any of the really good stuff, your bac will still be in the .10 range. Just a chart worth looking at if anyone on here is the type to think three or four drinks from the bar is under the legal limit.

  7. I've driven 100+mph and I've driven when, in hindsight, I shouldn't have been behind the wheel. I've never done both at the same time, nor have I ever done so with others in the vehicle. If I was the one that crashed my car in similar circumstances, I would fully expect others to be critical of my actions.

I am with you on all of this. I have driven 150+ in a car and a bike but never under the influence. He was asking for it. It was stupid. He paid the ultimate price and unfortunately so did his friend. But after reading this I will say in the words of the reaper. You may be a general or a street sweeper but sooner or later you dance with the reaper! Live by the sword die by the sword. What did he expect would happen...

On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Dunn had been cited 23 times for driving infractions in the past 13 years -- including 10 speeding and careless driving tickets and three for driving with a suspended license. There was also a drunken driving arrest in 2005.

As far as the .19 that is usually a pretty mean buzz but a lot of people would still think they are safe to drive. .19 would equate to about 6 drinks or three big beers.

  8. It should. There's a big difference between being a victim of a crash and being the cause of a crash.

My point was he paid the price already it is sad to me.

I choose not to drink and drive or race. It is sad that he died and to me it is even worse that it was involving alcohol. I have worked to many of these accidents to judge anymore. Dead is dead and it is too bad for both of them.

And furthermore. For anyone passing judgement. It only takes about 3-4 drinks in order to blow a .08. So if you have ever gotten behind the wheel after a couple drinks you too have legally driven under the influence.

  9. The current AK27 shaft shape is a pretty standard, straightforward shape. When he says that it is the Kovalchuk shaft shape, that means the shaft is literally squared on the edges. Think of a smaller 2x4 piece of wood type of shape. THAT boxy.

Thank you. I just know that size wise, the 2011 dolo feels smaller in my hands than the ak. I like the old feel so I think the square corners will work for me. Appreciate the response. I felt like a broken record.

  10. I am curious to see what the fused stick will be like? I know it was stated earlier that it would be like the Dolomite, which to me means it is a different stick. My next question is, what will the flex options be like? I will definitely be giving the customizer a chance! Curious what the Zetterberg pro-stock and versteeg pro will look like.

  11. Well i back to the shop and compared my stick with the new cl and newer curves one next to the other. its the exact same construction feel and weight.its clear its not a repaint in any way, im just lucky to have a rare stick i guess, too bad they removed the druryish curve This year because i liked more than the similar easton and bauer p91a

I wish I could find one! I like the old drury style ovi better than the new version. Although it is a tamer version of the craziovi so it makes sense.

  12. The 2011 CL has a different construction than the 2009. There's also a dual carbon bridge in the blade compared to 1 in the 2009. It's also heavier than the 2009 CL. As for the curve, the A.OVECHKIN is a stock option, not repainted or prostock or whatever; keep in mind too that this new Ovi curve is now equivalent to the Hall and Backstrom.

But the one he has is the old drury ovechkin curve.

There are two OVI curves this year, the Crazy OVI and the regular OVI (which you have). The Crazy OVI is the super open faced one that he actually uses.

That is not the regular ovi though. It is the old plain ovi.

  13. After wearing these, I realize that I've never had a skate that fit properly. I can;t even explain how happy I am them.

I know they aren't the prettiest skate, I'm just happy that they fit well. I do think they're pretty nice though.

All that matters! Fit and comfort trump looks any day!
