Hey guys! Finally got back on the ice after awhile because of a new job and what not. Anyway, have a few new additions to show off. First my completely stock Super Tacks!

Even stock these things are the most comfortable skates I've ever tried on, right out of the box I knew they were for me. After the first skate that hasn't worn even a bit, and can't imagine missing my APX's. Then these baby's came today finally, thanks Stella!! Nick Leddy (my favorite player, sorry JT) Bauer Nexus' in great shape! Can't wait to give them a go tomorrow.

Also added some Nexus Shoulders but nothing really to see there even though they are very nice.

I tried the Tacks in a store today. First time in almost 15 years that I've had ccm skates on my feet and they felt absolutely great. Coming from MX3's i loved the fit and would have definitely bought them if my heart wasn't set on VH. Bauer is going to need to step up their game.

How much longer is the forearm pad on the new elbows than the RBZ's? I just got a pair of the RBZ's today and they are pretty short. But the fit is awesome.

I've had the RBZs for a couple of seasons now and the length of the forearm guard was my biggest issue with these pads. They run very short. Overall, they're the best elbow pads I've ever used (and I've tried almost everything there is out there). However, I'm tired of taking slashes on the forearm, I've retired the RBZ's and have now gone towards a more protective pad (Easton Pro 10). I also saw the Quicklite's today in the store, they are identical to the RBZ's in terms of the slash guard length.

  3. Hey guys,

I've been seeing an issue with every few pairs of skates with the new LS Edge holders.

I don't have access to a Bauer rep anymore because my own pro shop is too small - so I'm hoping someone else in the industry has some official perspective to share.

Basically, the blades are loose in the edge holder. Re-mounting the blade doesn't seem to help. The blades move side to side, and it seems like the channel in the holder is too wide (or worn out). This usually happens to both skates equally/to the same degree. I usually notice this first in the skate jig (the skate sags). Then, when I remove the skate from the holder to inspect, I can usually move the blades side to side with my fingers.

I've read that you can simply put some teflon tape on the blade in the channel, but this doesn't seem "right" as far as a long-term fix is concerned. I'm also worried about the durability and safety of this for my players.

Is there a recall on these that I or my customers should be aware of? Was this just a certain batch sold at a certain store? A certain model? Is there an approved fix other than replacement?

Mods, feel free to delete or PM me if this isn't kosher or something that is supposed to be "hush".

    Thanks in advance!

are they fusion runners? They seem to bend very easily.

  4. Those RBZ elbows are quite awesome. Hope you like them after your long search.

They've been great so far. They almost feel like you're wearing nothing on your elbows. I went from sherwood 5030's to 7k pros to TO1's to AX1's to APX2's and finally to the RBZ's in a couple of years and like these the most by far.

  5. Hello Guys,

First time poster, long time lurker here. About to pull the trigger on some custom VHs. Does anyone here use insoles? If so, do you trace your foot while standing on the insoles? From my experience, insoles take a bit of volume in the skates. Do you order a size up or how does that work?

    Thanks

Nope, your barefoot. There are instructions on the website. Don't over complicate things in my opinion.

  6. Yes, I think Mako and Vapor both have 9' radius. Isn't Bauer doing something with 10' now too?

I just found that with my Cobra holders and Graf's stock steel, which I think is an 11' radius, my skating was much better. I didn't feel I lost quickness on the longer edge and now that I know what radiusing does I'd maybe try something even longer, but with the background in roller hockey first, it makes sense to me why a longer radius can feel much better: we're used to working foot quickness without the help of a smaller arc to swish through stride by stride.

    LS2 and LS3 are 10'.
