  1. Warrior DT1LT's

    W28 (Yakupov)

    75 Flex

    1zxl6v8.jpg

And due to a mess up by Warrior, they are sending me an additional DT1LT at no charge! Great customer service, as always.

Warrior did something similar for me. Was owed a cheque which took awhile to send out to me, and they agreed to give me a DT1ST for free. Fantastic customer service.

Awesome! What was the mess up?

My haul from the Canucks sale:

    IMG_00000057.jpg

so I wake early on a Saturday, line up and get in on the sale and find no 7K/8K elbows. Now I know where they all went! What did you think of the sale this year?

  2. Cool! How are the AX1's, specifically in the fit between the backhand and the thumb. It looks like some negative space has been removed there compared to the Franchise fit. And what pattern on the stick, W28?

Definitely a tighter fit than the Franchises. Still a good style four roll. I haven't used them on the ice yet but they feel great. The stick is W03 although I was really tempted to try the W28.

  3. What is the difference between the Easton Synergy HSX and Easton Synergy 80 gloves? I am guessing the HSX's will have more beefed up protection, right? What about the palms, and the liner? The catalogue says:

HSX: 2 piece Ax suede palm with textured abrasion zone

Synergy 80: 2 piece Ax suede palm with Digitec textured abrasion zone - What is difference between Digitec vs no Digitec?

Also, the Synergy 80 does not say the type of liner. HSX says the liner is "Nanosense"

I will be happy to go with the Synergy 80s if they are all the same except for a little less protection and less puck feel (but more durable palm).

On the hunt for a reasonably priced, comfortable, protective, mobile pair of tapered gloves. I like my Warrior Covert DT2 Bone Xs for everything except mobility- they lock me in at the wrist at one particular angle- the one when I need to flex my wrists to catch passes in at my skates (I have bad enough hands as it is, this just further complicates the matter). I used to have Vapors but I think they are overpriced (the APX2 line looks good, I just do not like the idea of paying an extra 1/4 price to support all of their excessive marketing). I did not think the Reebok 9Ks were comfortable, so I doubt I will like the 30K/28Ks.

apx pros on clearance? Have a look at eagle talons too

  4. Just got these in the mail.. Have been looking for these gloves for a long time. Can't believe I got them R.I.P. 121c6bd7-a9c7-4e28-a213-ad0c60acbffa_zps5705c8c6-a602-4f10-a9a5-5892afd3e457_zps6f95747f-cb59-47ac-b808-0b173494bcc3_zpsa40ca81a-d5a3-49cd-9d87-8e4c1e130343_zpsbc65340d-eaaa-4495-ba3e-287299533ad1_zps03a8522f-d2a2-4634-b00f-e28fa0c952b2_zps98a19db6-f6b9-4dd2-a465-90e036696c66_zpscb55b28b-60b7-4341-9ac4-6628a3398a2d_zps

One of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. He would bring his kids to the rink I skate at and we'd chat about just regular stuff. Great gloves to remember an amazing guy.

  5. Thanks JR. One problem. I don't see Where the stick lies are in the catalogue.

Warrior is done with listing their lies. Warrior Rep on this site stated that it may have hindered sales since Warrior measures their lies differently. So basically if you're looking at the Henrique, you'll know it's a lie 5.5 similar to Easton's Hall, or if you're looking at the W28 you'll know its the same lie as Easton's E28.

Bittersweet saying farewell to the Franchise gloves. Definitely an iconic piece of equipment. The AX1's look great and the Retail colours are really appealing. The cuff looks like the Kovulchuk. It also appears that there's no longer a Narrow 4 roll so I'm wondering if these fit more narrow like the BonabfideX.

Also really surprised to see there's already an AXLT protective line. 10% lighter doesn't seem like much, but I guess they're trying to stay competitive with APX2 and RBZ line in terms of weight.

  6. 2 sticks; pretty crazy man.

You should see the stick collections of some guys here lol

Seriously? Is that necessary? He never said the two in the picture are all the sticks he has!

I remember when I posted this picture in the "Show It Off" thread and you replied with a hilarious comment. We get it, our sticks aren't up to your standards.

  7. I currently have Step Blacksteel and I am an experienced sharpener. I would say that all Step steel needs honing. The Blacksteel not much. Velocity definitely does. For Velo and Black I use a fine grit DMT diamond stone on a slight angle followed by a leather strop attached to a wooden block to prevent ruining the finish.

I have step velocity steel but they've been badly scratched, sometimes in desperation mode I have some inexperienced sharpeners (Burnaby 8 rinks) work on my skates. Would the scratches on the mirrored finish be a result of honing? Does this still happen even if you use the fine grit DMT diamond stone? How do these scratches affect the runners performance?

    Cheers

  8. New Customs (my first pair) just arrived yesterday. Very excited to try them out tomorrow.

Specs listed in custom mitts thread.

Those cannot be more beautiful. I don't know if its the flash on your camera or not but that red looks a lot like the red of Calgary's jersey vs Red Wings red. Hossa cuff looks good too. Well done.

  9. Hi there,

I will preface this comment by saying that I have not read every single post in the thread.

That said I would be interested in anybody providing a list or retailers who would be willing to take an order for a pair of custom gloves.

I live in a major city in Canada and there are lots of hockey stores here, but whenever you talk to retailers it seems they either are ignorant of what can be done regarding custom work, or they have no interest. Now before anybody decides to tell me I am being unreasonable I will also add that there are two things I have always allowed for. Number one I am willing to pay extra for custom gloves so price is not the issue, and number two I do not expect that the gloves will be made yesterday so to speak. I do expect to know what can and can not be done when paying in the neighborhood of $300 or above for said gloves. I can't imagine going to a tailor on Savile Row and having him tell me well just live with it and stop being a Diva. Although good service is something I would hope for regardless of money involved, it certainly should be provided if a consumer is going to pay a premium for merchandise. To add to that one should expect to pay a premium if they expect to be shown consideration by the retailer. Simply put it goes both ways.

I know that Easton did offer a package through PSHG called "the Works" but that appears not to be available, and I am not even sure if PSHG is doing business even if their website is still active. Since I am only looking for a single pair I presume Eagle, Easton, and Warrior are my choices.

Finally as a mention I would be interested in any of these N.H.L. colourways in the following models in a "stock" pro stock glove if you can understand my thought process (since CCM and Reebok will not do one pair of gloves to my knowledge). I would however like the gloves to be new if anybody might have a pair for sale.

CCM CS400 or Crazy Light 14" - New York Rangers or San Jose Sharks

Reebok 9k/11k (whatever the prostock version is) 14" - New York Rangers or San Jose Sharks

    Thanks, ChampagneSupernova

Maybe this will interest you enough to place a bid. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Pro-Stock-New-York-Rangers-Franchise-Advanced-Hockey-Gloves-14-Anisimov-Cuff-/131059138820?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e83bbc104&_uhb=1

If you haven't already done so, visit the Warrior website and customize a glove from scratch and go through some of the options the offer.

  10. Technically this is a piece of equipment, since it will reside in my hockey bag. I had some tongue scraps laying around so I made a coozie. Features you ask? It has a black matte microfiber "upper", 3/8" white felt padding keeps your beverage of choice cool, all sewn up with a Speedy Stitcher. Eyelets on either side for putting a lace through so you can wear it, and yes... it has a 100% carbon fiber outsole. I'm not saying my coozie is better than yours, but...

It's almost perfect. Except for the drink in it. Low Sodium beer?

  11. Thanks, Krev. I'll have a look around for those. The new Warrior AX elbows looked similar in construction but were not even remotely the same feeling when actually on.

Edit: Are these the ones youre talking about? http://www.icewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=EPROEP

The AX1's are great, they take about 7-8 skates to break in. I went from 7k pros to the ax1s and haven't looked back.

May have to check out the easton. Bummed, my dynasty ax2 sling wrap Velcro is already starting not to stick

That's unfortunate...wonder why... I keep the straps in the same place and just forcefully slide my elbow in everytime I want to put them on, its an old habit but I guess it makes them last longer?..I've also noticed a handful of nhlers using them, mostly from pictures taken at practice where they can pull their sleeves up.

  12. Picked up a pair of Magnus Paajarvi warriors at the Oilers mini-locker room sale. One painted like the Widow LE from last year and one done as a Covert DT1. The only markings are 275 F3 on the back, which I assume makes them about an 85 flex. Checkerboard texture, light grip and sand paper finish on the blade. Going to take one of them out for a spin tonight. Is this a version of the Kovalchuk pro curve?

    1397907_10151767126536769_1194380094_o.j

Awesome buy. The widow LE is the best looking stick in my opinion.
