Did you use a heat gun? Also how long did you pinch and hold for?

Has anyone got good results doing the heat spot and pushing the boot in at the ankles in for additional heel lock?

Got my Mako II's! Haven't baked them yet, but fitting them on seems way tighter than the Mako I's IIRC. I didn't tie the laces up yet and the tongue is hard to get in, if not at all - little worried I should have moved up to half a size (7D -> 7.5D). Also, if anyone can help. I've been skating on my old Vapors and as mentioned earlier havent missed a beat with them. Even in last nights game after a 4-5 week comeback from injury, playing the puck off my skates inside and outside seems so natural to me that I never had with my Mako I's (had them for a year before I warranty'd them and also changed to +1.5 pitch). If I could describe it, it feels I have more blade on the ice and thus can move laterally a lot better and kick the puck up from when it's in my feet even angling it perfectly to play up onto my stick. The only drawback is that my legs KILLED and my knees get super tired compared to the Mako I's. Does anyone know what I should be asking for when I bring these skates into to profile? Or should I just bring in my old skates and the Mako II's and tell them what's going on? I just want to be sure that they know what they're doing and what I should look out for in terms of a proper job.

I was a couple of months out of warranty but originally had an RA# within the year and was able to get my skates sent in! Looks like I'll be getting some shiny new Mako IIs!

I'll take that into consideration, just need to find a place in ON that supplies them. If it's more aggressive than the Mako's I might be a little bit worried, I want it set inbetween my Vapors and Makos. Are the LS(1) Holders and Runners a neutral setup? I tried searching the thread and couldn't find anything. Also are the runners the same length? I run a 7.5D on the Vapors and a 7.0D on the Mako's just want to know what I can do to get a happy medium.

I went back to my old Vapor XXII's in the time being while the Mako's were getting processed through warranty. It was really foreign to me when I first got on the ice, adjusting to the really flat surface compared to 1~ year on the Mako's. Although it took me a bit to warm up and get my stride, the boot still fits perfectly - no heel lift whatsoever. As for the skate, it was damn hard on my legs, especially switching directions, the first three strides felt like I was in quicksand (although it may have been the FBV 9-/75, which was new to me as well). However, in close and maneuvering tightly along the boards were a lot better for me. Felt more stable protecting the puck around the boards and around defenders. I feel that the +3 on the Mako's put me on the forward third (even further feels like) specifically on stops where as the Vapors feel like more in the middle. Anyone know what I can do to get a happy middle between the two? Or would this be a case of a custom profiling? If so what should I be asking for?

Same Here. Long story short, I was originally suppose to RA (even have the RA#) these to Easton earlier this year but a bunch of things happened and now I'm 2/3 months over the 1 year warranty period. I pleaded my case over with Easton but to no avail. How long did you have yours? And your goddamn lucky. Had one of the boot tongue ripped out. Had to replace the rivets not once but twice (now over 70% of the rivets are loose).And it looks like the carbon fiber where the boot meets the holder is disintegrating (one of the boots). And to add further insult to injury, I just went today to get them sharpened and two hockey stores said they would not touch it due to liability reasons (fair enough). I play around 2/3 times a week. Always took care of these boots, hung them upside down, took the insoles out, played with socks, etc.. etc... Didn't leave them out in the sun or let them fester in my hockey bag. New holders/steel plus installation is gonna run me around $200 (Tuuks LS2).

V1 of the Makos. I got a slapshot off the toe yesterday. Squared up and everything. Tried to skate it off for the rest of the game. Pain increased throughout the night, got it checked out in the morning and got some xrays done. Got two hairline fractures off my big toe. Boots amazing for fit and comfort, but I think im regulating these to shinny hockey... My old bauer XXII's were a tank compared to these.

Before you purchase, ask if your LHS will profile them before you buy. Pretty sure they will. When I bought them from my LHS they threw it in for free. Although I didn't straight up goto 0, I went to +1.

My tongue ripped out as I was putting my foot in. Called Easton and was able to get an RMA. Bought them last May/April from my LHS. So we'll see what happens. As for people getting the gash on the top of the ankle. I had this for a couple of weeks, don't have them anymore. That and the fact I moved from the Bauer thinnies to the slightly thicker ones - just don't tie my laces as tight anymore. I came from Vapors (XXII) and after a year of having them you really notice how much you can dig in while skating. Only thing I had to do was set the profile back to +1 and all was dandy. The only bumps I have are on my inside right foot. I've got a bunion under the ankle bone but doest hurt too much. I orignanlly had this area punched out and it still didn't help. I've gotten use to it but this thing looks like a growth, seriousl y haha. Only other problem is seriously don't get a shot in the foot with these. While my Vapors were able to absorb a ton even if I had not squared my toes up to them shooter these hurt like a mother effer, on all shots.

nice, i went to +1 and skated on them last nite and they were awesome. anyone have success with bringing the heel in a little bit? there was an easton video on this thread showing them squeezing the heel in a little bit after a heat spot.

Well damn, I guess I can always go to a Tuuk holder.

Finally finished trying out the demos and ended up buying them. Went down from a 7.5D to a 7.0D and had one skate on them tonight. Reason I went down was because I gained too much length with the 7.5D post-bake; toes weren't grazing the end of the toe-cap, however the demo's fit exactly like my Vapors. Although I don't feel like I made the wrong decision, I'm hoping it'll be just another 5-6 times before I get these dialed in like I did with the demos (cross-fingers). Tonight was pretty rough though with the new skates. Right instep was pinching, but nothing a little spot heat can't fix. Also since it was my first skate in a smaller size, felt like I was over my toes a lot more and stopping more on the front 3/4 of the blade. Lengthwise the fit is perfect, toes (big toe mostly) graze the end. Two things, might be dumb: Does anyone know if the raidus/length is the same for the 7.5/7? Also another dumb question, what's recommended for spot-heating, LHS or hair-dryer? Should I also heat the heel at the same time as the in-step or it doesnt matter?

I have the opposite reaction. It was a long wait, but I was able to get a pair of demo skates (at the ONLY LHS that carried the demos) on and am wearing them right now as I type this. The baking opened them up huge, the heel is more open than I thought it would be and the length opened up so now my big toe only barely touches the end. I have a couple of skates to try these out on so we'll see. Would hate to get a bad impression these by a bad fit.Then again it isn't too far off than may broken in Vapor XXII's. We'll see if I have to go down to a 7D from a 7.5D.

what do you mean - you're not wearing them in bed whilst you sleep?
