  1. Too bad, I think this would be a great game for him to be in. My son is still getting the jersey made so hopefully it is seen somewhere. I just sent two Blues jerseys to be lettered, but with 07. 07....for a Tkachuk jersey or something else

  3. So my son is remembering the promise made to him last year that he gets a new jersey at his first game this year. Since he is getting it customized we must be supportive and put a #57 on it. For the name do we actually put Perron or A-K 27 ?? I checked with a couple people who were not sure if he was playing tonight and I am not bothering a player on game day. Has anyone heard if he is in the line up or not??
  4. No, that was why Cajanek was sent down. Getting Johnson replaces him, then they put McKee on IR leaving them at 23. Wagner is up filling in for McKee as well. Brewer may have been hurt tonight as well. His face didn't look right after his fight and he went to the locker room. David will have a lot to read between now and Saturday. When Murray first arrived last year he had each rookie spend a night watching a game and then got extensive notes and discussions on where they would fill in.
  5. New information today from Stricky. 19 year old rookie David Perron will not be in the lineup when the Blues open up the season against the Coyotes. Andy Murray would like Perron to have a chance to sit back and watch a game before he jumps into the fire. You should expect the former Quebec league star to make his NHL debut Saturday night in Los Angeles. It does not count as a game played unless Perron is dressed and actually on the bench participating in the game. The Blues will wisely pick their spots on when to dress the young playmaker. Perron recently called former Lewiston Maineiacs teammate and Los Angeles Kings rookie goaltender Jonathan Bernier to tell him he hopes he’s in goal Saturday so he can bury one past him. I cut out all of the stuff not related to David. His confidence keeps on going. Good luck once again.
  6. This goes along with what a couple people have told me as well. This is from Andy Strickland. Yesterday I said forward Mike Glumac’s solid pre-season had put him in position to make this team. That was before rookie David Perron saved his best performance for last. Perron set up Doug Weight with a pair of goals in Saturday’s loss to Chicago. The 19-year-old displayed some sick playmaking ability on both of his assists. Despite having expectations to make the playoffs this season, the Blues remain in rebuilding mode. Inserting young fresh faces in the lineup is part of that process. When it comes to Perron, the management and the coaching staff have to decide what is best for both the organization and the kid. In the last 24 hours I have had multiple Blues players express how impressed they’ve been with Perron. As it sits right now the Blues will sign Mike Johnson, and keep Perron. Stay tuned!
  7. Congrats to David on surviving another day. St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has reduced their roster to 28 players. Forwards Chris Porter, Yan Stastny and Trent Whitfield along with defenseman Roman Polak were all assigned to the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
  8. David is in the lineup for the game in Minnesota tonight.
  9. Here is more on David from Andy Strickland today. My impression from a few people I have talked to say that the spot is there for him to take. If he keeps proving he belongs, he will stay and play. Determination and dedication make a player so I hope he keeps it up. The Blues won’t make a decision on Perron until they have to. That means you shouldn’t be surprised if he begins the season in the NHL and they give him a handful of games before they make a final call. Perron can play up to nine NHL games without burning a year of his entry level deal. Last year at this time Pittsburgh had no idea what they were going to do with Jordan Staal but he played his way on the team and obviously had a great year. Vancouver gave Luc Bourdon nine games in the NHL last season before deciding he wasn’t ready and sent him back to junior. I believe the Blues will give Perron every opportunity to make the team. He wouldn’t look to bad playing the right side with Doug Weight and Martin Rucinsky. Updated He survives the day it appears. Congrats The Blues cut seven players this morning including goaltender Jason Bacashihua, D-man Jeff Woywitka, and Forward Patrik Berglund. Bacashihua and Woywitka will need to clear waivers. Other players sent down to Peoria include: D-Micki Dupont G-Jusso Riksman C-Michal Birner D-Alex brooks
  10. I liked how he gave props to his brother for his stick handling skills. I say he makes the lineup. Listening to him and seeing him there he is taking what he feels is deserved. You cant call him cocky for that. He is a player. Half the things I have heard from him is what I always preach to my little brother. Hopefully David takes it and never looks back.
  11. You can listen online at http://1380espn.com/ That should be central time zone.
  12. This just came from Andy Strickland. Great write up and he seems to be not taking no for an answer. We all know plans can change overnight in the NHL. No one really knew what to expect from first round pick David Perron heading into training camp. We knew his skill level was good enough to play in the show. What we didn’t know was whether or not he could compete at this level. Was he strong enough to play with the big boys? Thus far Perron has passed every test. Head Coach Andy Murray was reluctant to play him in an NHL pre-season game because it wouldn’t be fair to sit a player who is battling for a roster spot. Well now Perron has forced their hand and is in serious contention to earn a job with the St. Louis Blues. Expect Perron to play this weekend in either Atlanta or Chicago. Blues management is laughing at a scouting report written by Red line that suggested a swift breeze could knock Perron off the puck. The kid has shown the exact opposite in both the Super Series as well as in camp. The most impressive part of his game has been his willingness to win battles. He doesn’t back down in the corners and his playmaking ability is something this club could certainly use. One of the first things that caught my eye was how this kid competed against Keith Tkachuk in a two on two drill over the weekend. There hasn’t been one moment where Perron looked like he didn’t belong. We all know the Blues need to improve offensively and on the power play from a season ago. Keeping Perron is one way to accomplish that. He can make plays and like Paul Kariya he makes others around him better. I am asked all the time if he is too cocky. I say who cares; he’ll learn real quickly to simmer down if his ego gets a little out of control. Let’s just say he isn’t lacking confidence and he has rubbed some of his teammates the wrong way. With that being said he has been a solid teammate off the ice and from that standpoint the organization is thrilled with his attitude. In order for Perron to stick with the St. Louis Blues, President John Davidson needs to be convinced of three things. The first being that it’s worth it to burn a year, especially if Perron struggles staying in the lineup. This issue really doesn’t mean very much when you consider the fact that you normally resign guys prior to free agency anyway. The second question is to make sure Perron gets enough ice time if he stays in St. Louis with the Blues. It would obviously be counterproductive to keep him here if he’s only playing eight minutes a night. And last the Blues will want to be convinced Perron can handle the travel and the overall grind of the NHL schedule. Last season Perron led his QMJHL team in Lewiston to the Memorial Cup and he recently played in the Super Series so he played a lot of games in the last year. He was a little tired coming off the Super Series at the beginning of camp. The Blues know he can play and they know he will be good, the next couple of weeks will tell us if he is good enough right now. The Blues are smart enough to keep everything in moderation and will allow everything to work itself out. If he’s ready he’ll stay. David Perron will be my guest Thursday night at 7:00 on the Blues Buzz radio show ion 1380 ESPN.
