  1. Be careful with the EE recommendation.  Unless the EE fits in all aspects don't do it.  My son went with the EE recommendation based on some but not all of the measurements and 6 weeks later we were ordering customs because the heels would not lock.

  2. Not sure on the last but I may be able to help if you are between sizes.  My son was laser measured at the experience store, some measurements were D other EE, time was a factor so we purchased EE.  Big mistake on my part, should have gone with the Ds and had them beat out.  Ended up ordering the customs 6 weeks later. If between sizes and have time get customs if you need today get the narrower skate.

Ever considered putting him on Flare or RamonEdge? Both are very popular in the WHL and we sell a lot to high level 14U+ AAA teams in the US and Canda. A lot of the kids at various prep schools we sell equipment to are also using these steels.

We went with the Tydans based on recommendations from this site and the fact that they seemed taller than the alternatives.  He has problems booting out with the shorter steel.

At this point, I think perhaps your son is just a total beast of a skater and no steel is fit for his aggressive skating. I'm impressed - that was under 3 months for the Tydan.

Jokes aside, maybe you should consider just shipping the skates to JR and have him review it. Not saying your local pro shop isn't capable, but having another eye to closely inspect might be helpful.

He's transitioning to new skates right now so hopefully, the new skates (2S pro) will be easier on the blades.  Over the 3 months, he was rotating two different sets of Tydans.

Hmm, he should be alright with that but maybe the tongue just doesn't suit him. A thinner tongue may work but if he wants to keep skating for now you need to ease the pressure on the tendon. I'd make him a forsberg pad for each foot (pm me if you don't know how) and get him to wear them for the next 6 weeks. that should give the tendon time to heal. In the meantime consider changing the tongue and or buying eyelet extenders. These are your simplest, get a result options that will also allow him to continue to skate.

I will PM.  I'm not sure what eyelet extenders are but the skates have the plastic extension pieces rather than traditional eyelets.

Do your kids Bauer's have that stupid plastic metatarsal guard strip running up the tongue?

I ask because I have pain on the top of my foot with my new Bauer's - not lace bite at the ankle; I think my problem is directly due to pressure from that plastic strip in the tongue.

I haven't got brave enough to do surgery to my new skates yet though.

He does but he has always had them, always been in supremes.  He switches them out as soon as they "break" or "fold".
