Where were you reading the FT2 has a nylon midsole? How do these midsoles compare visually on the FTs 1, 2 and 490?

You can see the midsole when you remove the footbed. I know for a fact that the FT1 midsole is composite and the FT490 is nylon. I don’t see why there would be a nylon midsole on the FT2.

How much of a performance benefit would you really notice between a composite/nylon midsole? There are a ton of NHL pro stock Bauer skates that have what looks to be nylon midsoles rather than composite like the retail versions.

Haven’t got too good of a look as of yet but it looks like Nylander is using a blacked out stick in the leafs game tonight. Not sure if he is also using the DX, but it doesn’t appear to be his usual 2S PRO....unless it’s all spray paint....

Nylander was also using the DX tonight.

Will this finally expose the fact that Little Timmy’s Kane curve isn’t actually a Kane curve? Or will people order a Kane expecting a P88 and get a Shananan delivered to their door? Much suspense!

Also - the Pastrnak sticks I’ve had in the past have just been stock P28s. Having that, P28, P28M, and Kucherov’s Fisher Pro seems a bit excessive.

What exactly is the difference between the P28 and the Fisher Pro curve?

Toe box won't really alter from baking. Only thing you can hope for is that your heel sits further back from the bake and pulls your foot back creating more room in the toe cap and also from insoles like I mentioned above.

Where did you purchase your skates? Is it covered by ccms 90 day guarantee? This guarantee seems to still be valid on sites that are still listing the skates at regular price like hockey monkey.

Yeah, fortunately there is a 90 day guarantee. I just wanted a few different opinions before sending them back. Now hopefully they have my size available.

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

  5. To those of you who own a pair of pro stock CCM gloves, do they run true to size? I tried ordering a pair of quicklite gloves and they felt significantly smaller than most other gloves at 13" and I haven't bothered with CCM gloves since then. I'm currently looking at ordering a pair of HG97 or HG98 gloves from sidelineswap but I've decided to hold off until I can get some feedback.

Chase from IW confirmed along with a CCM rep on a recent review video that the FT490 does come with the new holder.

In fact, the only downgrade from the FT1 and FT490 seems to be the runner (no hyper glide) and a nylon midsole. I’m not sure why he said the FT490 has a nylon midsole though since a one piece boot is supposed to be composite.

The FT1 and FT490 seem so similar that I wonder if the fit is even the same. I know that with the previous FT line, the 380 fit completely differently than FT1 and was more similar to the original jetspeeds (wider and with more depth throughout).

CCM sizing between price points are so much more inconsistent than Bauer.

Hockey Tutorial should be releasing a video soon comparing the FT2 and FT490. I'm curious as to why there would be a nylon midsole in a fully composite one-piece boot and how it affects performance, etc.

  7. I personally would love to see a kovalev pro pattern as stated from above.

Another pattern I have always wanted to see is a mild P88 (almost like a cross between P88 and PM9) with a P92 blade shape. Not sure if any pros have used this, I'm sure some have so I'll have to do some research and post a picture if I come across one.

  8. I'm ordering a pair of customs in the next week or two. But before i do I'd like a few things cleared up and I'm hoping you guys could help me.

First: I have owned every top skate from the supreme/vapor from vapor 40's - apx2 and one95's - MX3's. Getting a standard "D" width everytime.

My heels are locked far better in apx2 boots rather than the MX3's I Purchased in December. I tried on my old APX skates I had and the "heel lock" is similar to that of the MX3's which I do not like. Should I stick with the standard D/A or go with D/AA? How much of a difference would a D/A differ from a D/AA? Would the heel expand after breaking in if the D/AA is too narrow?

Also what is the difference in minicel, prestocel and the 1/4 memory foam ankle pads?

    Hopefully you guys can help!
