  1. Would like to hear how everyone is tightening the laces. I am so used to cranking on laces to tighten my old skates. But i cant seem to find a comfortable balance with VH. How tight are 1-4 eyelets and 5-7 and last two? Do you skip the last eyelet? I'm guessing you only really need to "tighten" 5, 6, and 7. Would like to hear others lacing patterns and tightness. I wear my tongues outside of my shinpads if that makes a difference. Just trying to dial these puppies in.
  2. Curious about skate hollow after switching over to VH. All my life I used a 1/2 inch hollow as my go to. I feel now that the 1/2 inch is really sharp. I can really dig in on turns. I'm wondering if I should bump it down to a 5/8 hollow. Anyone do the same?
  3. They are worth the 1030$. Hold off and save up. These skates are like wearing running shoes. Amazing comfort. And it changes how you perform, tighter turns, first couple strides. But the fit is everything, feels like they were made for you. Because they are. I drank the kool-aid. Glad I did.
  4. Is it normal for the tendon guard to wiggle on the skate? its got some wiggle now. Just curious of that's normal. Doesn't seem like its affecting the skate, just curious. Also I'm a tongues out guy. always have been. Maybe because I use shorter shinpads.
  5. Still getting numb toes. Just tightening the first 5 or 6 eyelets snug and tightening the eyelets around ankle pretty tight. And the top couple snug. Anyone else have any tips for numb toes? Stock tongues. Currently using both red footbed and grey insole. Any ideas would be appreciated. THanks.
  6. Numb toes. Anyone else deal with this? I don't feel like my skates are too tight. Mostly only really tighten the 3 and 4 eyelets. Toes are numb by the end of the game. Only wore them for 3 games now.
  7. I have the standard felt tongues. I thought there was some thermoforming plastics in the tongue. Maybe not. I think I will just have to try them out and see what my preference is.
  8. How far in does everyone have the tongue in the toe box? In relation to the velcro strip I have about an inch that is not attached to the velcro. Feel like the tongue being further down the toebox would eliminate some extra space. I watched a video with Scott adjusting the tongue and he mentioned the tongue should be further down the toebox to help with edging etc. Anyone have an opinion on this. Thinking about rebaking my tongues and pushing them further down the toe box over my toes.
  9. So is it best to adjust the tongue to cover the toes in the skate? Or just before the toes? And can I throw the tongues in the oven so I don't have to mold the entire boot again.
  10. Hey New here. Joined for this board. Just got my VH skates only 3 weeks after ordering. First impression of the skate were awesome. Feel very comfortable on the ice. Only one ice time so far and really impressed. No break in time at all. One thing I did notice after the game was my toes were a little numb, I'm guessing I tied them too tight and using wax laces maybe overkill. Also I noticed that the wrap is so pronounced on the last 3 eyelets that it's really difficult to get my laces through the eyelets once the skates are on my feet(standard felt tongue). Any ideas on how to fix that? Or is that just part of having the proper fit of the skate. Fit like a dream. Really happy I made the switch. No more pain. Thanks
