  1. Also, how much are you cutting the sticks? If he’s on the lighter side, he might be flexing the blade more than the shaft. Once you cut a  stick the flex goes up. I weight 210 at 5 8 use a 77 cut down. Probably ends up being roughly a 90 flex.

if he’s flexing the blade a lot shooting of the toe that explains the heel blowing out.

I know generally speaking the low kick sticks tend to have a more “rigid” blade

  2. I am a Bauer guy, for the most part, I love my 2n pro and has held up to a lot of violent stick checks

what level is the young man playing? If he’s playing travel, it’s just gonna happen with sticks. Skating that much, and getting chippy kills sticks, I went threw sticks like crazy in bantam and midget.

I can attest to the abhs being good. A ton of guys in my area use them. (Michigan company lol).

you can also check for some pro stocks. I usually only buy pro stocks now, if you cut a 2s retail and a 2s pro stock in half the pro stock will have thicker sidewalls to the shaft, weigh more in most cases and be a lot more durable. The sticks are usually reinforced through the entire stick.

@eastside I wanted grab some additional colors since finding out the hardness is all the same for each wheel color, but all the Labeda vendors I contacted (which I was told to do) haven't answered.  Right now they say to just contact the vendors.  I may contact my tournament vendor if the wheels hold up.   @Bender94  You're not the first to tell me about the durability, so we'll see how they hold up.  So far, it's been a few weeks without any signs of cracking, but I also added a Pure +1 wheel as the second 76mm wheel on each skate.

Yeah it’s all hearsay anyways. I have not tried a pair personally, although I’m glad yours are holding up. Plus, equipment works different for each player. What some guys swear by others curse haha.

  4. Should mention I hate most wheels haha. So far I have disliked addictions, revisions of all types

    the millenniums are OK

the pures and old rink rat hornets were my favorites out of what I have tried, but to each their own. No two hockey players will have the exact same gear preference. So go for what you like and what works.

  5. I ref some former Pama pro guys, and from what I have heard, they perform great, but are a “tournament wheel” aka not durable. The only thing I have found to be a mix was the old pures, have not tried the new ones, however have heard great things about initial quality. I should mention I skate on a +2 weight 210 and started at ice, I like a rigid wheel, these seem to fit the bill. I had +1s, but kept cracking the front 4. Plus, I don’t really like my wheels to be overly flexible. That’s why I mentioned ice. The +2 kind of just grips and feels rigid which I like because an ice skate really doesn’t flex at all down low, too soft of wheels do and I struggle to skate on them.

I get it.  My current are x 800.  I did this were the wear patches were by the toe.  I have done this on other parts of different skates.  This is also a common practice to plug holes on on the insoles of skates that have had multiple holders put on. Would I smear the whole skate with it?No.

What type of JB did you use exactly lol, lot of different types.

Thanks for the reply guys. I figured it is only the outermost layer. The line itself isn't a huge concern to me but more the fact I can feel the slight ridge. Also a couple spots on the stick there's actual unevenness. Here's the pic.  Overall handling it and flexing it, there doesn't seem to be any issues. Haven't shot aroundwith it yet though.

Be safe and call bauer, mine are clean all the way up, no feel to it. It may be normal, It might not be. From what I have found bauer is super willing to help out their customers. Considering it is a top of the line stick, you do have a right to at least ask questions haha.

Is it a pro stock or retail? and if you got it through a retailer contact them, like I said when you go top dollar you can be that guy to call and ask haha. Assuming its retail a 280 USD stick isnt fun to buy.

If it was my stick id call, unless its a prostock lol. Those are buy at your own risk.

  8. I wouldn’t be concerned. My 2n pro I grabbed after thanksgiving and have used for probably 20-25 games and the paint is jacked up, but the stick is rock solid. I should mention all my sticks look like crap. I play defense and like stick work, I also usually do not get a ton of time out of sticks. If this goes another month or two it will be the most durable stick I have owned oddly since my tps xn10 lmfao. Old school composite.

Edit left out my personal favorite stick of all time. The APX2 lol

  9. I know the ribcor line is supposed to have "some flex", but that does not look right to me. I personally have never owned a pair, however I would highly recommend following up with the store of purchase or CCM. I had a pair of jetspeeds in the past, I felt like they came up really high in comparison to my Vapors, so I had to skate with the top eyelet undone, or suffer from lace bite. Looking back it might have been a pitch issue? I am not sure, I have only owned one pair of ccm's in the last 15 years.

It looks like the boot will eventually suffer and fall apart at that area, unless anyone confirms who owns a pair this is to be expected.

May be a volume issue? Maybe tying the skate too tightly or loosely for your foot shape?

Also, when I did have some issues with my skates CCM was very, very hard to deal with, they did not help me, it was on their 700$ roller skates, claimed they do not make, or will not make roller equipment again, only to see them MAKE MORE lol. Not to mention the rep I spoke too was very, very French Canadian, which is fine, however I really had a hard time understanding him. It took multiple attempts to even get responses before I called also. This may have changed this was maybe 3-4 years back? I do not remember exactly.

  10. I am going to try and keep this post somewhat short, but has anyone else who switched to a P28 in the last few years found leaving the stick longer than what you usually would for a similar lie? and if so is this because of the rocker?

The only reason I even bothered making a post, is way back in the day using a pm9 I cut them to my adams apple, I know its insane I use a p28 when I used to use such a small curve, but that is a short stick with a 5-5.5 lie, on the p28s I cut them to a similar length, however noticed I was overskating pucks, added an inch plug and was fine. I have also used p92s cut around the height and didnt notice a difference on a 6 lie really.

I am essentially wondering if the way you use the curve requires length, or if at 30 I am finally loosing flexibility and needed a longer stick haha.

It took some getting used to taking snappers with your heel up, but once you get it down, you rip lasers with a pretty easy quick release, also I have been told by goaltenders the way people shoot off the toe of those types of curves does mess with their anticipation, unsure if it was just the goalies I spoke with, or there is some truth to the matter.

No argument...I still wear a half shield too...not too smart at this speed, but...old habits die hard...as will I probably 🥅🏒🇨🇦🤣😎

Id try the 5030's, Im 29 and play pretty decent level of mens hockey, I wear them, however I took the chest plate from my old shoulder pads and attached it on the chest. Once your not hitting really the ribs/back is the concern. I did it because I was like 7 or 8 when pronger took that puck to the heart. Always wanted good chest protection lol. You could do a padded shirt under the 5030's too, but I cannot with the way the guys shoot in my league. Most of us played anywhere from AA travel-juniors college I am confident they would cause organ damage or bone breakage lol.

Edit- Dont remind me about Visors lmao, I do not have dental right now, and recently switched to a cage...... I HATE IT haha. As soon as I get dental back the Straight cut is going right back on. I cant see anything right now, although its only been since the new year lol! The only thing I will say good about a cage is I now see why they are considered an "advantage" in the nhl. I am much more daring haha

  12. Man the industry is out of control. I broke 11 sticks last year playing 3 times a week! Granted I slash a lot haha. Well I call them aggressive stick checks, but what defenseman doesnt whack lol. I buy pro stocks, I legit manage to just get any stick out of warranty and blow it apart. I got lucky on my 1s. Bought it on sale, it exploded after two weeks, got a 2s pro sent to me. 2s pro is an awful stick btw, I love my 2n pro though. Although, again its a pro stock retail might be totally different. I just end up paying 150-180 every 40 days haha.

EDIT- That reminds me BAUER start selling p28 max blade height retail lol!!!!!

I have used jb weld. Thin coat then let it dry.  Rinse and repeat until you get the desired thickness. Other wise it will work but look like a sloppy mess.

Just out of pure paranoia are your boots made of a similar material 🤣 I do not wanna melt my 1xrs or create some chemical reaction.

I will try this though if you have used it on anything similar. I am too broke to get new skates, also I hate breaking them in. The modern boots are dumb stiff.

If it's just extra thread, you can cut it with a scissor, or, if the thread is short, you can light it with a lighter and let it burn off.

If you see that the seams are separated, you can sew the separated parts together using the same holes in the material. Hand sewn stitches will last longer than the glove if you do it right.

I have also re stitched some areas on mitts I loved, but the fact they were brand new top of the line gloves made me nervous enough to make a post haha.

  15. Ok, thanks for the replies, I figured these were tag ends, just because nothing was actually coming unstiched the first pair had me paranoid. I am very gentle on palms, so I tend to go for expensive gloves and keep them for years, air them out well and have them last. I hate breaking in new gloves, and for those of you who haven't tried on a pair, they are basically game ready from day one assuming you like the fit, by 4 hours they feel like a 2 year old glove. I am very impressed with the glove, I just was not sure if this was an issue to contact bauer on. My warriors did not do it, however its been so long since new gloves I do recall trimming strings. As long as the glove stays intact I am happy, I do not care if my gloves look beat to S*** haha

  16. I tried searching, and I clearly messed up 22 pages of expoxy roller came up lol. I am looking to find an epoxy that is safe to coat my wear patches on my 1xrs. I am almost to the stitching and wanted to prevent actually wearing through them. The skates are still stiff, I just drag legs to take away passing lanes lol. What epoxy would be safe and durable to reinforce the wear areas of the skate? and hopefully black or clear.

  17. Hey Guys,

So I purchased a pair of 2s pro gloves, They are fantastic, however on the first pair I took home I noticed the palm was already coming undone so I returned them to the store(display model) and ordered a brand new set. They arrived 2 weeks ago, I have skated about 4 hours in them and I am noticing threads hanging everywhere. My 3 previous sets of gloves this did not happen to me (Alpha qx pro, Bauer APX, NBH 4 roll).

My main point is should I be concerned? Should I trim the threads? nothing seems to be coming unstiched, I would put something like seam saver on the area and trim the extra thread, however they are still under bauer warranty and do not want to void it.

I have never had quality issues with Bauer and minus cheating with warrior for a year, and wearing jetspeed shins I am basically a bauer fan boy LOL!

    btw,

Haven't been on here in a long time, and this is a new account, I used to years ago be letsgowings13. Hello to anyone that remembers me. Is JR around still?

  18. This is rough. I tried my buddies rbz and the dual kick was nothing like the apx2. I wish they would release it again maybe with newer style carbon fiber like an “apx lite” I might investigate true curves. It’s really frustrating with some of these crazy curves because once you figure them out it’s unbelievable. I could never hit corners with a pm9 like I could with a p08 and If you keep your wrists closed and follow through reasonable you can send it low as well. Even the p28 is very good, however just not great like my p08.

strangest thing about all this is a lot of people who like p28/p08 love p92s and I have never ever been able to do what I want with that curve. I even get fluttering on snap shots for some reason with that curve semi frequently and I am not new to the game I played travel from 8-17 and continued playing since for the last 10 years Ice and roller. The p92 is the only curve I have ever struggled so much with.
