Well, this is partially correct. See this for better clarification:

If I'm reading this correctly (which I may not be based on the junior pricing mistake) the key difference between the SVH and the Catalyst Pro is the shell. The SVH creates a fully custom carbon shell from the scan and foot last while the Catalyst Pro fills in an appropriately sized pre-formed shell with the skate innards based on the scan.

    Yes?

Wonder if the Cat5 is $299, would there be a $100 increment between it and the cat7? If so, would the top of the line catalyst then follow the same $300 stair step as the TF7/TF9 meaning the Catalyst and TF9 would be the same price?

I loved that $450 intro pricing True did when the TF9 was launched. That got me to try out the skate and eventually switch from a decade in Bauer skates for both ice and roller. I’m not expecting to see that kind of deal with the Catalyst launch but am really curious to see how different (or similar) the two boots are. Definitely not a fan of the yellow, but that can all be blacked out and the only time you’d see the tongue is when you put them on (unless you flop tongues which you can’t really do with this style of True tongue)

Competitve Edge Sports has the Cat 9 at $549.99, Cat 7 at $349, and Cat 5 $219. Seems like quite aggressive pricing at the lower end.

  3. I'm getting back into stick geekery and I'm curious how everyone deals with the seemingly endless search for the perfect new stick.

I'm fascinated by new curves, shaft geometries, kick point and I want to try them all but it's a lot of variables to consider (and pay for). I'm settled at 75-80 flex but that's pretty much all I'm confident in.

The video reviews from prostockhockey sticks are pretty good but I have a hard time translating their curves to retail curves and it doesn't address shafts. Are there any resources to help out?

Pretty open ended question and I'm sort of just looking for general thoughts on the matter.

Does anyone know if they're sticking with the white for the new line?

Loved the FZ line and personally miss the Axioms/ACs. Know white isn't for everyone but just think it looks pretty sweet for inline.

Also 99% sure that photo above is a pair from the FZ line.

Think about FZ but... reversed and white, not silver. Take away the dots, add some geometric lines... vents a bit more fang-ey.

And anyone can correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like a mostly stylistic update.

The thing about Mission is that you're never gonna see them do anything that doesn't already exist in Bauer ice skates, so they're basically just riding out the popularity of the brand name without actually innovating anything different from Bauer ice or roller. I think it's dumb, because they could really just use Mission for any weird innovation they want to try, and then keep Bauer roller traditional, but instead it's just two brand putting out basically the same skates.

It's sad but there's just no market for a bigger roller hockey spend. Inline skates of all sorts have had a banner year so I'm sure they'll see a Covid bump, but will it last?

Part of what drew me to roller in the first place was Mission's "California" vibe, a different and fun attitude to the super serious ice hockey I had been playing. But instead of cultivating it's own identity, it seems like the sport became more of an off-ice training hobby so... here we are.

Share the deets on the new Mission skate design.

    Hmmmm.

    Spoiler

What if you inverted the FZ series, added a few geometric lines, and a dash of the AC series? The boot felt more or less the same weight and stiffness wise, though I was only holding it in my hands for a few moments.

  7. Just an update if anyone is curious:

I got a chance to look at the new Mission boots earlier today and I wasn't super impressed with the new design. It's fine? I was told the fit will be the same but given that, I think I'd stay with the current model and get a discount. Going to look at CCM boots tomorrow, maybe try on a pair of TF9s as well.

  8. Hi all, I just received my new marsblade r1s and the plan was to set them up a new pair of boots. However! Someone in the Mission disappearing thread mentioned the 2021 samples and I'm looking around and noticing some of the top end boots discounted so I'm wondering: Is there anything new coming out soon that I should wait for? Or is now a great time to buy?

For reference, I'm currently skating on Mission NLS1s with sprungs. They're not in terrible shape, I can certainly wait a couple of months if I need to.
