  1. Intermediate custom gear is also cheaper than intermediate pro gear, so it might be easier for you to get a glove with a pro palm than for a player with senior hands. I would talk to Sara Marschand of PAW for more ideas on female-specific gear. She sells probably the only double-layer goalie jill out there. This protective shirt could help if you wear it under the chest protector. It's pricey, but will provide extra protection in an area that normal chest protectors are not designed for.
  2. Hello folks! I am a 27M in the DC area looking to become an ice hockey goalie. I have experience playing goalie in ball hockey, but my skating is poor (I know how to go forwards and stop, but that's it). I've added a neck protector and knee guards, ordered used CCM Premier Pro 2s for ice (my current Demons are too wide to play in), and ordered a Vaughn V7 pro carbon chest protector to replace my beaten-up Vaughn Vision 9700. I've also been fitted for and bought goalie skates, and now I'm looking to get lessons. Is there anything I should focus on before transitioning to goalie-specific stuff? I'm looking to practice forward, backward, and stops, before learning the 5 major goalie movements (C-cut, T-push, shuffle, butterfly slide, recovery). I've also found out about Hockey North America, and plan to join the hockey school and work with the goalie coach there when it starts up. Is there anything else I should keep in mind when going from ball to ice? Thanks!
  3. AFAIK, USA Hockey has followed NHL rules by limiting paddle length to 26 inches. How will this affect adult amateur goalies? About shaft length, I've been fine with the stock length on my Sherwood 9950 in ball hockey. I'll have to see if that translates to ice.
