I just got these SMU Xtra Plus skates today and they run noticeably bigger than my FT4. I wear a 5.5 Wide FT4 and I ordered the Same in the Jetspeed Xtra Plus. I think I would need a 5 wide or maybe go down to a regular to make it work. Thats too much work for multiple shipments to make it work. I will just eye the SMU Jetspeed Control when it goes on sale soon once the new Jetspeeds come out. I live in Seattle and will make a trip to Langley Hockey Shop for the Controls. Edit- I see the USA conversion rate is going down, hmmmm maybe up in the air Edit- The SMU xtra skate is not Jetspeed narrow at all, feels even bigger than a Supreme in volumne. or Tacks.

I picked up a 100% next to new CCM XF90 off ebay for just 25 dollars over half price today. The seller Last Shot Sports has crazy deals going. The XF90 is not your big bulkly CCM Tacks skate. It is very very streamlined. Much more than my FT4 which side by side is noticeably wider and bulkier. You would think it would be the opposite when Jetspeed is slim and small feeling while Tacks is big and bulky. Not with the XF90. Out of the box comfort is better than the FT4 which does have some pinching a bit with in the toe box with that replaceplable tongue. For 275 plus shipping it as good as it gets for a deal, The seller could have just sold it as new. t

Just ordered these in Wide width, very eager to get them, got them at IW hockey for 279 before tax. They seem to offer top features at beginner level skate prices. My question is did CCM make the latest Jetspeed a bit wider. I orginally purchased a almost brand new customer returned FT6 Pro for 397 OTD, it was pretty much perfect condition but too snug, had to go the punch in routes on both navicular bone areas and I did not want to take chances with punching in multiple areas. Are they Wides in Jetspeed now close to a reg D with or Fit 2 Bauer. Because thats what I am really D, or Fit 2. I did not want to link the IW hockey page since my browser automatically signs me into the IW account https://sportsexcellence.com/en-us/products/ccm-jetspeed-xtra-plus-hockey-skates-intermediate?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=e70bee812&pr_rec_pid=8453552079160&pr_ref_pid=8453547524408&pr_seq=uniform

New 90s Supreme Comp safe to skate on?
acura9927 replied to acura9927's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I got them sharpened and went for public skate, NO GO, they are going to crack with any kind of skating. They can be felt leaning in on both skates and can't support at all. You can't tell whatever by tapping on the blade holder. Display item, the guy at the store say cool skates they belong on the wall for display. -
New 90s Supreme Comp safe to skate on?

Thanks for the advice, I think I am going to hold off on skating with them and see if I can find some recent black holders, I really want that vintage skate look with black holders only. If not possible its a display item in the house. -
I found new Bauer Supreme Comp skates on ebay. Never been used, sharpened, looks likes sat in the closet for 25 to 30 years? They are the ones that Paul Kariya skated with, down to the Black Tuuks. Are these still safe to skate on if they were never subjected to use? I weigh 131 lbs so I would not stress the blade holder much. Or just use as a display ?

I am not using the skate with the reflex tendon much anymore. I def prefer a fixed tendon guard. Feels more natural for backwards skating and just a better feel overall feel to me completely. I am going to stick with my M4 Supremes in the Bauer Lineup. Nothing else fits as well or feels as good, I tried on everything. My only other skate is the Ribcore Titanium Skate based on the 76k with a few upgrades. Took 3 to 4 skates and love it almost as much as the M4.

I think that's what happened. When I went in to bake them the 2nd time it was the same guy that always cut my skates 1/2 too sharp EVERY time. I mean how can they screw up oven temp? Its one setting per CCM skate. But I guess they did.
-
The real reason I don't want to bake new skates anymore is when I baked my Ribcore Titanium skate the 2nd time there were 3 to 4 pin sized dots that formed on both sides of the skate after the 2nd bake. I don't think for me since I don't make money from playing hockey its worth any unnecessary blemish on my skates.

First time yesterday skated with the Matrix and with Reflex Tendon Guard. I do find it more comfortable than the hard fixed tendon guard on my M4 but no performance difference. I somewhat like the fixed tendon guard better for backwards skating. That said the Matrix is without question comfortable and zero break in needed. I did not bake them in the store as I am not a fan of baking skates, rather just wear them around the house watching TV or light chores.

This is what I noticed as well. Bought a few new skates lately and one was CCM Ribcore Titantium and the other is Supreme M4. The foward flex on the M4 is way way more flexible than the CCM, The M4 felt like I was skating in low top sneakers compared to the Ribcores. The CCM is a solid responsive skate but that tongue is simply too damm big for me.

I will be back, there is nothing like it in WA state, with the USD/CAD conversion and sales they have its worth anyone's time.
-
Yes. I got the Matrix as well. The ribcores feel vastly different. Heavier and bulky feeling but without question then more stable skate for fast forward to backwards transition like a defensemen would make. It requires more effort than any Supreme skate I have tried for side to side moves. The thing is a tank compared to the Matrix. Straight line power transfer is outstanding for the price.
-
I can push the sides of the Matrix easier than the M4. Very soft boot at this price point.

Went back to USA and to my local shop and tried on the Matrix. Felt better than the Ultrasonics and the Machs. So the shop matched Canada's price and did the USD/CAD conversion for me. The Matrix same size, fit 2 is wider in forefoot and toecap than Ultrasonics. The Mach just did not feel good to me at all. I am very happy with how the whole day ended.
