  1. My heart and sympathy goes out to you guys who run shops in rinks. The last minute purchases, demands for quick fix or sharpening before going on the ice when you're trying to close, and people just killing time and disorganizing merchandise while their kid/sibling/friend skates would drive me up the wall. You make me not take the fact that we are stand alone for granted. Thank you.

As far as tipping your sharpener goes, I'll say this. Taking a little extra out of your pocket now will probably keep more in your pocket later.

Small rant related to customers tipping. I had a customer today, fairly regular, has two kids playing higher level hockey. Daughter plays division 1 college hockey in New England. Now as a D1 player, all of your equipment is provided for you. If I spend over an hour sizing your daughter up almost head to toe knowing that my store isn't going to make a dime off of you just so she knows what model and size to tell her equipment manager when she gets back to school, the least you could do is throw me a few bucks for the time/information.

Agreed, I am curious as to who this unidentified douche is also

Also agree. If he is such as arse, why protect his reputation. People never seem to mind sharing the fact the Patrick Roy is a d-bag.

  3. Anyone have an idea of the MSRP of the new Supreme line?

$229. $40 is a bit too much of a jump for one model upgrade if you ask me. I don't know if Bauer thinks consumers perceive other sticks (S19) to be of higher quality because of significantly higher price or if its good ol' greed but I think it will hurt them more then help. Anyway, line as a whole is very nice; graphics look solid. The shaft, of the Total One at least, is a bit more square than last years supreme line.

Kickpoint is the same story as older supreme models. Slightly thicker taper then the vapor line and mid kick like always.

Malkin ditched the stick, Bauer ditched Malkin. Some of the Bauer sticks trickling into the store over the last month or so have no pattern name on the PM9's.

  4. Bittersweet moments in Dallas last night. Just looking over the highlight clips of Modano today and seeing he had an assist, a game tying goal with under two minutes to play, and the shootout winner in what is most likely his last home game just blows my mind. Watching him tear up on the bench during the standing ovation brought tears to my eyes and knowing the love he has for being on the ice is a thing of beauty. Great to see a nice guy go out on top.

  5. "with all due respect, that does look like a lot of room in the back of the skate. You want the skate to hug your foot so you have more control over it. With that much room in the back your heel can slip up and your foot will move within the skate before your foot comes into contact with the skate causing a delay in energy transfer. I'd recommend trying on a smaller size."

Exactly. You can take the high road and still make a sale at the same time even if the customer won't listen to you.

  6. Then he obviously needs bigger skates if he is getting blisters and pain.

Haha, more space is always the answer! The folks that try to make skates that are too big for them work until their feet are torn up are always fun.

"These don't feel any better. They still hurt my heel, that must mean they are too small."

"No sir, they aren't too small. They hurt because you have golfball sized blisters on your heels. Nothing I try on you is going to feel good right now. You need to take a few weeks off to let your feet recover from the abuse you've put them through."

  7. just had an incident here was fairly busy at the store and some hockey dad asked us if we can install his kids laces in the skates, the kid had to be atleast 9 and even at that age im sure most of us could put our own laces in the skates. Probably be my one and only thing I'll put into the thread but has to be embarassing for the hockey dad when other hockey dads are looking at him probably laughing in there mind.

I'd have to say the worst are the 13 year old kids who ask to get their stick taped and aren't new to the game. You just spend $239 on an S19 and you don't know how to tape it!?!? Embarrassing. Even as a mite, I usually insisted on taping my own stick. I'd usually mess it up and my dad would have to redo it but that's how you learn.

  8. I wonder if that is the "default" color or something. The ones I was checking out were the same colorway. I really like the thumb in these. The palm is nice too.

My rep has the same colors on his sample pair. Most likely the cali Bauer rep sold his samples since booking season is just about over. Just an educated guess though.

    STOLEN  :(

  10. Before you flame about the gloves: I know. they are comfy and will do until I find something pro stock I like.

If those are Z-Airs from around 2001-ish, there isn't any point in going pro-stock. They were awesome gloves. I have a pair myself and personally think they were Eastons best retail glove ever.

  11. I believe if the Easton 4-roll is in custom colors (other than all black or all navy) then it is the Canadian made "pro" level custom glove....not the stock E-Pro. So $159 is an appropriate price I believe.

Correct, the one they have is the pro level glove. You can get them in black and navy also, its just more confusing because those are the only colors the "E-PRO" comes in. $159 is a bit steep though, store I work at sells them for $139 (No San Jose, sorry).
