  1. My buddy left his back-up goalie gear at my house (long story), and said I could use it if I wanted to. Well, I've been playing goalie now once a week in a drop-in game. I picked up the Simmons 991's off of ebay for $70. I feel like an orphan with mismatched gear, but I am having blast. Being a 35 yr. old first timer, I feel like I've picked up the basics rather quickly. I've got a couple of lessons lined up over the holidays. I'm thinking about hanging up my forward gear and joining a C league next summer. The Nike/Bauer pads, blocker & trapper are One55's. The pants are Itech Reflex 9 Pro, and the C/A is Mission Helium Pro. The helmet is a Jofa 390.
  2. We have a guy that played in the IHL/CHL in the 70's and has yet to wear a helmet. He only plays drop-in, but the new guys always get hung up on the fact he's helmetless. The regulars get used to it, and in fact, it's sort of iconic/legendary.
  3. Good question. We have a great group of regulars at this one drop-in game. We all are out there to have fun & get a good skate in. We had a new goalie one time, and I wasn't screening him, but I was off to the right for a tip-in chance. He two-hands me in the back and clears me out of the way. I gave it a chuckle, but the next time back I did screen him. Typically, we don't screen the goalie, but there is usually a guy off to the side for garbage.
  4. I solved the problem by shelling out $35 for a bottle rack and six bottles. Now, I don't have to worry about complaining about someone drinking my water. There's always enough to go around. The guys that like their own bottles appreciate it because no one is bogarding their water. Plus, it guarantees me a roster spot. ;)
