  1. I was wondering if anyone is having issue with the base layers and the stitching coming undone. I  gather they beefed up their stitching on the gen 2 gear but both my gen one and gen  2 keep threading off. Love the performance of the gear but disappointed in the quality of the stitching. I am looking into alternatives if mine falls apart. I am curious about the Aycane gear as it sounds similar

By one-piece skate do you mean the goalie skates with an integrated holder or the monocoque boot versus traditional boots with quarter panels glued and stapled to a separate sole?

I was wondering on the real differences in a mono frame boot vs the traditional two piece boots. I understand that fit is the most important factor but was curious to the added benefit if anything I.e . Sharper turning faster acceleration. It seems some people say the skate reacts faster to the movement of their feet.

    Thanks

I find it hard to sauce passes with the kovalev, it opens up early and has a heel kink.

I like the barkov, but I feel it would be better with a toe kink on the end.  It would make it really playable all around but give you the benefits of the toe curve.

That is the one thing I have found with the Kovalev pattern  is I have to relearn saucer passes with it

Did anyone pick up the Kovalev pro curve? If how are you finding it and which stick and blade flex did you choose?

I recently picked up the blade only version in a regular flex. The first thing I noticed right away is how great it is for stickhandling and I am not a person with silky mitts by any means.Stick handling is amazing with the curve in tight and far away.  I am still trying to adjust to the curve for shooting. I am not sure if the files of blade has anything to do with the shooting but I really like the flex for receiving passes. It is not pingy and passes don't fly off the stick. From what I understand the flex is so you can load up the blade but my lack of shooting skills I am not sure I notice this.

    hope that helps

  5. It is a shame. As a Graf user I have always had positive experiences with Graf skates (currently in G9035)I also like to support the smaller independent guys Base, True, Eagle, tackla, etc as they offered something different to the table.  I know economics play a large part but it was nice to have the options out there.

  6. I had an opportunity to see and feel these skates in person. I must say they are a solid build, although the finish a little lacking but not a deal breaker. From the pictures I thought they looked thin on the padding but in person it looks like there is good protection. They felt very stiff. In speaking with the rep he mentioned that they are based on a Graf forward profile. As I am thinking of switching from my graf G9035's I was pleased to hear no heel lift would be needed. One thing thIngs that really surprised me was the weight. They are not as light as the top of line bauers but not as heavy as my g9035. I am trying to figure the benefits of these to justify making the switch. I think more research is needed. But if anyone can help it would be apprieciated.

  7. Product MIA MB 33

    Background 6'3 195lbs

Fit- These gloves fit very similar to Eagles. They are loose but don't have the loose floppy feel of some gloves. There was no break in time. I sent them pics of my hand and they recomended a slight taper around my wrist because I had what they called playmakers hands? They fit just right in all areas 9/10

Protection- I was a little worried because the gloves ar so light that they would not have enough protection. I have taken some slashes and they held up great. I went for the v-80 foam because I only play in beer leagues but after getting some hits I feel that my hands are well protected the foam really abosrbs the impact well. 9/10

Weight- This is where I can say wow. When I shake my hand i can't feel the weight of the glove. They are the lightest glove I have ever tried. I am used to heavy protective gloves so it took some time to get used to these. 9.5/10

Durabillity- I have only had these 2 months so I can't relly comment on the but they are holding up great so far. This is my first time using carbon material and it seems to be fine. It does mark a bit easy. 7/10

Intangibles- I went with the Mb 33 which is a more traditional glove instead of the popular short cuff style these days. They still offer great flexiability in a protective traditional style glove. I went with the micro nash palm which is so soft and offers a great feel. It does not get hard and crusty at all and is holding up very well so far. 9.5/10

Overall- This is my first time using high end gloves. I was a bit nervous about spending this much money on gloves but I can honetly say they are worth it. I ordered these and they answered a ton of questions as I was also nervous about buying online and they did a great job of giving me a glove I love. I will definately think about getting these gloves again. These gloves give me the proformance and protection.

    Overall rating 9.5/10

  8. I am a bit of a traditionalist. These are the MB33 longer cuff version. Took about 3 weeks. I will say the service was the best I ever dealt with. They worked very close with me through phone calls and emails. I find theses gloves so light. I am very happy with them and a big thanks to michel he helped ease my concerns about buying online and not trying it on before hand.
